Description: A few lines to introduce myself. My name is Al Whelan, I am from Boston and worked at a famous "waterfront dive" known as Kelly's Landing. A seafood business in a Catholic community with lines down the street, literally. I worked there for five summers and enjoyed every minute of it. My first date with the counter girl (she couldn't resist a man in a paper hat), my first kiss, etc. One rule was demanded, cooking with clean oil! In those days it was lard! Today we use canola oil both on the grill side and on the fry side... Most of our dinners are on the grill side. Fish shrimp, scallops, steaks, ribs, chicken and pork round off our menu. Our Irish Connoli is like a little piece of heaven and our homemade bread pudding is to die for. Both topped off with sweet whipped cream. We've added a 6000 square foot patio surrounded by trees. A truly private and romantic spot. Also some added features such as, a basketball cage, beer pong table and corn hole court.

“Bad seafood”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2013

We should have been tipped off when all the drinks were served in 4oz plastic cups like you get on airplanes. I've never seen ice tea or water served this way. When we asked the waitress why she said the owner told her to serve all drinks in these tiny cups. I ordered the seafood medley which was described on the menu as sautéed fish, shrimp, and scallops. What came out of the kitchen was a previously frozen piece of fish, 8 medium sized tasteless shrimp with the tails still on and ONE scallop served over angel hair pasta and a tiny piece if broccoli and a tiny piece of carrot that looked like they had been left over from cooking a previous dish. My wife ordered the fish with the mango salsa, it also was obviously previously frozen. It had no taste. She ate less than half and didn't want to take any home. The couple we went with only ate half of their dinners and didn't to take the left overs home. Inexplicably, the waitress asked if we wanted the check when everyone of us was still eating. You would be better off going to McDonald's for a fish filet sandwich. Hopefully, this place will close before others are ripped off.

“Serendipity”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 8, 2013

The meaning of Serendipity is to make a good discovery by accident. We got to try this restaurant through a groupon, and really lucked out!! The food was excellent and so was the service. The server brought us out a taste of two dishes as a sampler plate and I choose the pan sauteed the scrod with vidalia sauce because of it. It was wonderful. My husband's entree was equally good. We loved the Key West atmosphere they created outdoors on the patio. All in all, a great dining experience. We are definately going back. And the Irish Canoly--to die for!

“Dirty, Smelly...disgusting.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 29, 2013

We went to this restaurant last night and were sorely disappointed. The decor is garish and tacky with junk hanging everywhere. There were even Christmas decorations still up, including a tree with no ornaments and only half of the light strings working. Had there not been a patio, which needed to be swept, we would have left because the indoor part of the restaurant smelled like mildew. The carpets were filthy looking. The food was a great disappointment, so much that the friend with me couldn't even eat his tasteless, overly battered clams, which covered a serving of fries that no one in the kitchen even bothered to salt. My broiled shrimp wasn't bad, but, like the accompanying vegetables, were overwhelmed with garlic. The "Key West Seafood Chowder" tasted mostly like tomato paste and oregano. We felt sorry for our rookie waitress, but she tried to make the best of a bad situation.

“Unusual Moorings”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2013

Ate dinner at the new england moorings today. A groupon brought me there. First time there and was surprised by the decor and location. It was off a side street with what looked like a storefront church next door. It has an inside and outside seating area and we sat inside. Only one other couple in place, early evening. Decor is lots of Italian lights and everything painted a light purple/blue. Hand drawn murals on the wall. Service was very friendly and quick. Ordered shrimp scampi. There is a small salad bar included and everything was fresh. The owner is very friendly and brings around appetizers of shrimp, alligator and scrod. Two pieces of each. All were very good. The scampi arrived and was a real let down. Extremely small portion of angle hair pasta with shrimp on top. A small plastic cup of oil and garlic to dip the shrimp in. A piece of Broccoli and some tender baby carrots all good. But this is not shrimp scampi. The Irish cannoli for two was fried tortilla strips and a some cinnamon type pastry covered in whip cream and drizzled with chocolate. I wished I had ordered any of the three samples the owner brought by as the scampi was not good. Wanted to like this place more as the owner and staff work hard.

“A Little Bit of New England”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2013

We were given a Groupon Gift Certificate for Christmas and were very pleasantly surprised. Don't be turned away by the simplicity of the exterior, the inside is very nice with lots of twinkling lights and televisions for.the sports enthusiasts. Being from New England, we looked forward to some good chowda! Our waitress, Rachel, was wonderful. Her smile lit up the room. We started with tasty complimentary appetizers followed by excellent clam chowder and a trip to the salad bar. (Small but fresh) Our entrees of Vadalia Scrod were very good. Will return!
