“They cooked the fish we caught - delicious!”
Reviewed January 30, 2014

If you go on a fishing excursion keep some of those fish! Pinchers Crab Shack turned our catch into a delicious meal! Our fishing captain cleaned our fish and put the fillets in a bag for us. Pinchers charges $10.99 per person and each person chooses 2 sides. They ask if you want your fish grilled or fried. We didn't know what we wanted, so they offered to grill half and fry half. The fried fish was good, but the grilled fish ROCKED THE BOAT! If we have the chance to do this again, we will ask them to grill it all. They serve the meal family style with all the sides on platters so everyone can dish up what they want. The french fries were phenomenal and the garlic mashed and garlic beans were both excellent. The servers were all super friendly, especially our waitress, Kat.

I can't say anything about the rest of the menu, but definitely take your fresh-caught fish here!

“Fresh Seafood”
Reviewed January 29, 2014

The restaurant faces the marina at Tarpon Point offers open view and can be closed off during inclement weather or chilly temps. Stone crabs are in season now and I love them, so I had the large ones ($8 each). For me it's worth it. The first time we visited we sat at the bar, a large piece of paper is placed down on the bar, a nice touch. Great two for one drinks and my husband's burger was a hit. Next trip with my son and his family, three little ones (3,5, and 7). They were treated so well and loved the food. Our server was also our bar server, Genna. She's so personable and showed me how to get every bite out of the stone crab claw. We'll probably make a third trip today. There are a few really nice shops there to take in after lunch....She Sells Shoes has great prices and nice choices. The Westin is now adjacent to Pincher's.

“Date night”
Reviewed January 28, 2014 via mobile

Well we went to Pinchers at the Westin. Food was fair. Service was great by everyone but the bartender. when done with dinner the area was cleared and we waited 15 min. Before asking for the check so we could leave. Better off going at happy hour

“Better service than its neighbor”
Reviewed January 28, 2014

First off I'm surprised by the number of bad reviews for this place.
The service was fabulous and friendly servers everywhere!
We had the 2 for 1 house merlot - it was average.
To eat we had:
the hot cheese and crab dip - really good and a large portion
shrimp cocktail -very good sauce and shrimp was tender
jumbo crab cake with yummy sauce- one of the better ones I've had
I guess the key is not to eat fried food here?
We will definitely return here based on our bad experiences with the eateries at the Westin.

““Skip The Food, Have Drinks - Eat Somewhere Else!””
Reviewed January 25, 2014

I have always eaten at Pinchers throughout the years & watched it become progressively worse.
It used to be quite delicious. Far better than its competitor Joe's Crab Shack - but now it has become the greasy spoon it was never meant to be.
We were staying at the Westin Cape Coral - a beautiful resort with gorgeous water views.
Pinchers is right next door & it also has prime views & a great Tarpon Point Marina location.
But that is it.
CRAB CLAW DINNER: The crab claws were served freezing cold - with no butter or sauce for dipping.
We told our waitress these claws use to come warm for over 10 years! She replied that it toughens the fish but they do give you a choice & serve it that way if you want? And... did not even offer to take these freezing cold ones & bring back a new warm order?
For $22.00 - you can get a lot better crab claws & treatment ANYWHERE.
GROUPER SANDWICH: The fish came out so greasy it was almost inedible! It was Not crunchy - I ordered it fried - but it was soggy, sloppy and sliding all over the bun. The bun was not fresh either - it had the consistency of a tough Kaiser Roll.
FRENCH FRIES: Suppose to be fresh cut thick potato wedge fries made to order. These were so greasy & wet that they were truly disgusting. Any server or kitchen staff person could see there were not fit to bring to anyone. You could pick up a fry and it would just collapse over. I complained about both & they brought new fries out - a half an hour later!
BAKED BEANS: soggy & awful with an odd flavor
COLE SLAW: the portion was so small you were finished in two bites.
This waterfront location has a lot going for it - Why can't Pinchers step up the quality of its food to match the environment?
People eat here regardless of the food just to enjoy the view. The restaurant appears to be counting on that fact and is lazy by not checking the quality of the food that comes out of that kitchen?
I hate to post this - but on all counts Pinchers served very poorly prepared food with an unappetizing appearance to a customer's table.
HAVE A DRINK HERE & GO NEXT DOOR & EAT AT THE NAUGHTY MERMAID @WESTIN RESORT.
