“Wundebar!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2013

German cuisine is underappreciated in this country. Good, solid food that satisfies everytime! Who doesn't like hearty sausages and strong beer?!

We were very pleasantly served by the son of the family who presented us with wonderful plates prepared by his mother, Chef Susen, and presided over by his father, the Duke, who made sure everything was satisfactory. A great family experience that made us feel like we were at home in Deutchland. All we needed to complete the picture was an oom-pah band but entertainment was provided with TV screens that appeared to show programs taped in Germany.

It was great fun. The Grillhaxe, which I've always called schweinhaxe, was absolutely terrific and a bargain at only $16.50. Whenever I find this special dish, it's usually only available on 24 hour notice and usually costs about $25. Don't miss it. Gemuchlichkeit!

“Great little gem in a strip mall”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2013

My husband I just moved to the area from MA less than 3 weeks ago. We were pleasantly surprised with the food and atmosphere at Duke of Germany. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall and doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is clean and quaint with touches of Germany on the walls and TV. But the star is the food.

One of the owners brought out a sample of their homemade sausage, which was really good. For our entrees, we ordered the Jaegerschnitzel and the Sauerbraten, both with the spatzle and red cabbage as sides. They also had a good selection of German beers on tap and in the bottle. The food came out hot and tasted fresh and authentically "German". I believe a family owns and runs the restaurant. There were four tables occupied on a Thursday night at 5:45. Customers continued to filter in during our dinner, including a party of 12+ as well as some takeout orders.

Our bill was $43, which included two entrees and two beers. We had enough leftovers to make a small lunch plate the next day. I can't wait to go back and try some other items on the menu.

“try it”

this restaurant is located in a strip mall. a small but cozy place. it seems to be family run business. the service is attentive and friendly. the waiter could not explain one of the items, so we tried it anyhow, it ended up being some kind of potato dumpling, intereting but bland. the schnitzel was excellent. everything is reasonably priced. a good restaurant for a family dinner. $35 for 2 including a beer and two glasses of wine, it was worth it.

“Tasty, but way over priced!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2013

Good food. Very full of flavor and nice portion sizes. The beer prices are way to high! So I seldom eat there. I like the food, but to pay so much for a glass of beer is not worth it.
