We stumbled on Mel's Diner while staying in Cape Coral Fl and want to give our appreciation of a well organized diner. Waitress was so friendly and food was delicious. Fully recommend.

Mel's has a great 2 for $20 special for the Summer. We have been twice in 2 weeks. They offer 2 homemade soups, 2 nice size salads, 2 entrees (choice of 6: pork chops, fish, chicken & short ribs) and 1 dessert (banana foster or brownie with ice cream). The chicken soup was thick and the salad crisp. We had the glazed soy fish and the braised short ribs twice. The fish was swai and was very good, it came with rice in Ft. Myers and came with rice & greens in Cape Coral. The braised ribs had brown sauce in Ft. Myers and red sauce in Cape Coral. The ribs were served over mashed potatoes in Ft. Myers and had potatoes on the side in Cape Coral. However, both versions were plenty & very good. Both the brownie with ice cream & the banana foster were very good. You can't cook this meal for $20. Definitely a great buy! Too bad we were only in the area for 3 weeks!

Hands down the best place in the Cape to get breakfast! Food quality is amazing, not very expensive and service is second to none! On our last visit we were served by Suzie, we will definitely ask for her next time! WE LOVE MEL'S!

This was a wonderful restaurant experience. It is a traditional diner which is done up very nicely, so it has great atmosphere. The servers are wonderful; we had Eileen who was absolutely fantastic. She was incredibly friendly and also great with children; she really made our meal a much better experience. The food is wonderful value as the portions are very big for a very reasonable price. I started off with the cream of chicken soup which is absolutely wonderful. Then, one of us had the turkey, another had shrimp in pasta with tomato sauce, and another had a burger. All three entrees were wonderful quality and big portion sizes. The food really had a great balance between price, size, and quality as all three categories were exceptional (the meals were roughly $10 for an entree which is very big and often includes some kind of side, soup, or salad). They were also very child friendly (the staff were great with children, and they had some kid's toys up at the front that you can collect for kids to play with). Our whole meal from start to finish was wonderful in all regards. We went to the manager to tell her about how great our service was, and she was very friendly too. She gave us 20% off our next bill just as a nice gesture. I will definitely be returning here as this meal was excellent!
