“Getting Better”
Reviewed March 22, 2014

My last few visits to Marker 92 provided average food and service. This visits showed marked improvement. Our serve, Scott, was really personable and helpful. The entire staff were friendly and well trained.

The Celler 8 Chardonay was good. My chicken cobb salad was substantial and the greens were really fresh and tasty. My companion had the Marker Salad with salmon and loved it. We topped off with delicious creme brûlée and a brownie with ice cream and hot chocolate sauce - delicious. We finished with some excellent cappuccino.

The outdoor seating was perfect with a bright moon rising and a slight breeze. The atmosphere was pure Florida waterfront.

It seems they are getting better.

As newly arrived guests at the Westin we thought we would head down to this place for lunch around 1:30 on March 15, 2014.

We ordered two meal size salads and chicken noodle stir fry from the kids menu. The first salad 'marker 92 salad' with grouper arrived on a platter which wobbled by a half inch, making it impossible to eat off of. We asked for it to be replaced and they returned with the same platter along with a smaller white dish. As the waitress explained they had no platters left (ie. we can't be bothered to clean one for you) she was already shovelling the salad on to the smaller plate. She left both and suggested that as I finish the salad on the small plate I just refill it. My wife ordered the Caprese salad which was drowned in pesto in order to disguise the blackened and wilted greens (inedible) - ugh. To make matters worse the wine we ordered to wash down this slop never arrived. In fact there was never and acknowledgement or apology - they simply forgot - water only for us. The best dish was the chicken stir fry from the kids menu. A simply dreadful experience which had us quickly scrambling to find a dinner place as for the evening as this wasn't going to work.

“Good Food But Something Is Missing...”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

HINT: Only go on a warm enough night to sit outside. That area is attractive and very outdoorsy.

I confess I don't understand the strategy of Marker 92. It is a resort restaurant located inside the attractive Westin Resort at a waterfront location in Cape Coral. We arrived at 8PM on a Thursday during high tourist season at a time when every other restaurant we saw was packed. Marker 92? Nearly empty. Why is that?

The interior is very attractive with beautiful wood and nice nautical details. It was dark outside and even though Marker 92 is a water front restaurant - there was nothing to see out the windows. They do have outside seating but it was windy and cool that evening so we sat inside. It's obvious the outside seating might be a much better choice!

The menu is surprisingly short but we all found something to order. My caesar salad arrived in less then two minutes - a world's record! Obviously this salad was pre-prepared but it was good. I had the flat bread pizza which was Panera Bread quality - which is to say OK but not higher-end restaurant quality. Everyone stated their meal was OK.

One oddly weird thing is that for three of the four of us - our dinner plates didn't sit flat on the table - instead they wobbled back and forth which was noisy and irritating as one tried to cut into dinner. Look under the plate (which was plastic!) and they each have four little rubber feet like you'd find on the bottom of a dish used on a nice yacht (keeps the dish from sliding around on the table). It's a nice detail - but for three of our dishes, one or more of the feet had been rubbed off making the plate unstable on the table top. The server stated, "Oh yeah, most of the plates are that way." Amazing.

By the end of our dinner we were the only ones left in the place. Remember - this is a resort restaurant in an area without many other dining options…so even the guests have voted with their feet and their vote was, "No".

Go somewhere else.

“Beautiful Grounds”
Reviewed March 12, 2014

I have been to Marker 92 several times. Each time, the staff was very good, the food well prepared and the views spectacular. The Air Conditioning makes it a little difficult to stay inside without a sweater for ladies or a quick break to enjoy the grounds or views of the marina and river. Overall, its a nice place for business luncheons, and sunset dinners. A little "pricey" at lunch, but it is at the Westin at the Marina....

“Good food and convenient”
Reviewed March 5, 2014

A convenient spot if you are staying at the Westin. We were happy with the food and service. My only complaint is the wine by the glass was a very skimpy pour. I hate to pay $12 for a glass of wine (that costs $9 a bottle retail) and get half a glass. Nice view of the yacht club and outdoor seating was great but bring your bug spray.
