We were in Florida to visit family and then to just have some time in the sun alone. We chose this city and hotel because Westin had sent us a promotional email, and we were interested because of the suites with full kitchens and screened in porches. We went for 3 nights to get a feel for the place staying in a one bedroom suite. We enjoyed our time there, but there were some downsides.

Pros: The rooms were well appointed although there was an absence of reading lights in the living area as well as very dim bedside lamps. The kitchen was well equipped. Starbucks coffee was provided for the coffee maker. The robes were microfiber of a weight suitable for the climate, and they were large enough for tall people--a wonderful rarity. The bathroom was very large with a shower with a great flow rate. There was an additional sink outside the bathroom across from the walk-in closet. There was plenty of storage space in all the rooms. The one bedrooms are east facing which we liked a lot--there was sun in the morning, but by noon the huge screened in porch was pleasantly cool and no sun in the eyes. The porch had both a sitting area and a table with 4 chairs. We loved having lunch out there. There were ceiling fans inside and in the porch area so one had a lot of control of the temperature in addition to the air conditioner. We only ran the air conditioner a couple of times for a short period because it was so pleasant with just the fans. We loved the view of the preserve which is the only view choice for the one bedrooms. At night it was totally dark out and super quiet. During the day it was a view of waterways through the vegetation. We loved the quiet and absence of piped in music.

Cons: Housekeeping is an issue. The rooms appeared clean, but I don't think they'd been mopped before our arrival. Our feet got very dirty walking around barefoot. The housekeeping was inconsistent. Some days we'd get dishrags and dishtowels, another day I had to ask. The same number of towels were not always provided. They were parsimonious about providing toiletries--even soap. One day we got no bathmat. The bed making was slipshod. The sheets were not tightened or smoothed. It was as if the linens were just generally pulled up and the top sheet spread flat over the mess. I'd remake the beds myself. And now, my biggest gripe--I'm not much of a TV person, but the channel choices here are extremely limited. We arrived on Sunday, and I learned that they don't even get PBS. I missed the night's episode of Downton Abbey! This really needs to be addressed. We watched movies on our computer because the TV channel choices were so lame.

Probably the most off-putting thing about the place was the indifference of the staff. When seeking information about local restaurants, the concierge was friendly but not necessarily knowledgeable sending us to a restaurant for lunch which wasn't open for lunch. Replies at the desk were cursory. When things didn't go right, I don't think I once heard the words I'm sorry. People were a bit too flip. We realize that Westin is still putting its team toghether, but this is not what we expect or have experienced at other Westin's.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The restaurant does have well prepared tasty food, although it can be very crowded. We loved the overall quiet. It is a so nice to be so laid back. We stayed at a prepaid rate which we thought was reasonable for the season, but I thought the rack rate was too much for the value received.

We attended a wedding at the Westin. Beautiful views from balcony rooms, marina with all size boats, great outdoor bar and friendly staff. I like the option of green service which means no room service but extra points. No problem when staying just 2 nights. great idea

Room Tip: High levels with great view of river and Ft. Myers.

Once you are there, you feel as though you are in a different world. The service is outstanding. Everyone you meet is so genuine and friendly. You can tell they all enjoy their jobs. the entire front desk staff and bell staff were helpful and friendly. Even the kids had a great time painting sand dollars with Mary at the activities hut, what a cute idea for the kids. Will be back! Keep up the great work!

Room Tip: All the views are breath taking, each one has a private balcony, however, the higher the better!

As Lifetime Platinum Starwood members, we have travelled extensively within the Starwood familly of properties throughout the U.S.. Recently we have found a gem in a sea of mediocrity in the Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village. If you are looking for an oasis in south west Florida this is it. The property is located in an area that reminds you of the way Florida used to be. Nestled in between the river, the gulf of Mexico, and an expansive preserve this is a property that promises relaxation and peacefullness. If you are looking for the hustle and bustle of a big city, this is not the place, however the marina, the water, and the sunsets, deliver a relaxing time away from it all. The service is EXCELLENT! From the minute we arrived at the front desk we knew we were someplace special. Jennifer and Anna Marie who checked us in did everything possible to meet our every need and expectation. At breakfast, our cheerful waitress Morgan at the Marker 92 restaurant made sure our experience was superior; we now ask for her everytime we vist the restaurant. Finally, Andrew the assistant restaurant manager not only recommended an excellent wine to accompany our dinner that evening, but also created an environment and experience that was equivalent to that of an upscale, fine dining restaurant. At every turn, this wonderful property and its amazing staff will surpass your greatest expectations. Congratulations to the general manager of this property and the excellent staff assembled here!

Room Tip: The water views and the preserve are all excellent. The rooms are beautiful, modern, and clean.

Dear Dan H.,

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay. As a Lifetime Platinum member I am thrilled to hear the rave reviews of the property and the service you received while vacationing with us. As the only Westin property in Southwest Florida and only 8 weeks under our belts I am humbled that our associates have embraced the expectation of a Westin/Starwood guest.

I will certainly let Jennifer, Anna Marie, Morgan and Andrew know of your kind words as well as share this with the rest of the staff as we work together as a team to ensure our guests leave with a positive and unforgettable experience.

We hope to see you again in your future travels.

Wonderful Resort. We had a great view of the boats tied up at the docks. I can't say enough about the staff. When I checked in there was a problem so the agent upgraded us to a suite-only this was a 3 bedroom, full kitchen, dining, and living room. About 2,000 square feet of space! Nice when one is spending 6 days there. It helps to have a car if you want to eat off site as cab service takes a while. We truly enjoyed our stay here.

A wonderful destination hotel with truly beautiful views. It is located a bit out of the way, so if shopping in Naples or night life is you goal then this is not close to those activities. But if you like to see the sunrise and the sunset from your balcony overlooking Tarpon Point bay or relax by the pool, take a cruise on a yacht or just get away from crowds---this is a very relaxing place to be. It is secluded, quiet, and very, very luxurious. The rooms and service were among the best I have stayed in and I have stayed at the Ritz and 4 Seasons. There is just one restaurant, with good food too, but no other on site options for dining. There are a few stores yet also limited shopping. Exercise room is well equipped and overlooks the pool so also very nice. I was here on business so it was a great place for me to get a good night sleep and to relax and unwind when I had some free time. A little bit of a drive to get there and to get to Ft Myers or anywhere else so not a great proximity if you have business meetings in Naples or elsewhere. Still, a very nice hotel and relaxing place to stay.
