“Resort at Marina Village”
Reviewed April 10, 2012

We stayed here with friends using the TAN Vacation Program. From the time you drive up to this resort you feel like royalty. It is absolutely beautiful. We had a 2 bedroom condo, which was connected but also had separate entries. The screened in 'lanai' extends along the entire back of the condo. Three swimming pools, free tennis, outdoor restaurant/bar and inside bar/restaurant. The cost of meals was very reasonable, but has full updated kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite counters if you'd rather cook. We went to the deli/market beside the resort and ate breakfast/coffee outside at the marina.

My husband and I took our 4 yr old grandson for the weekend. The resort and staff where wonderful!! We were made to feel welcome and special. The resort is great. We were in a 1 bedroom suite which was beautiful. The full kitchen and extra room was great. They have 3 pools. We spent the day in the pool and my grandson learned how to swim without his swimmies! Yeah!!
We have stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Naples and we would definitely chose The Resort at Marina Village over the Ritz next time.
The only regret we had was that we couldn't stay longer. We definitely will book for a week next time.

Room Tip: We were in room 716 and it was quiet, very clean and had a very large lanai with a corner view

We were a party of eight in a 3 bedroom suite and could not have been anymore comfortable during our 7 night stay. The views are magnificent, the staff is so attentive and the spaciousness of our suite was refreshing. We used the full kitchen and the washer and dryer like we were at home :) Our dining experiences at the resort were very good - at both Marker 92 and the Nauti Mermaid. The highlight of the suite is the super large balcony, which we practically lived on. Great live music at night floating up from the bar seven floors below and glorious peaceful sunrises each morning...making the coffee and complimentary newspaper even more enjoyable.

Room Tip: The three bedroom suites are perfect for families!

We got a 2 bedroom suite which over looked the Caloosahatchee river. The accommidations were spot on. Very spacious, comfortable, clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We did have dinner at Marker 92, which is the resturant in the Hotel, our meal was very good, out side dinning available.

We just returned from a 5-night spring break vacation at The Resort. We loved our 2-bedroom condo. Very comfortable for our family of 4. The space was thoughtfully appointed. The hotel and room staff were very friendly. Our view of Sanibel was awesome, and we spent much of our time on the large patio watching the boats come and go. We chose this spot to be away from the beach crowds and were not disappointed.

The biggest disappointment for us was the restaurant/bar service and food quality. We dined one evening at Marker 92. The food was average, lukewarm, and the server was not real attentive. Another evening, my husband went down to the bar to order food "to go" for our sons. The total time it took, to place the order, wait for it (it came in 2 separate parts), and finally to sign the receipt (which took another 10 minutes) was more than an hour! My husband remarked that the server seemed passive-aggressive, maybe because we didn't just order via room service.

If you are going to have a resort "off the beaten path", you must do better with the restaurant quality and service. I was grateful that we had planned to do most of our own cooking. Because of location, it would have been very time-consuming to drive away from the resort for all of our meals.

We will stay here again if we are in the area and would recommend The Resort to others. However, we will also be mindful of dining concerns and plan accordingly.

Dear Valynj,

It's great to hear about your recent experience with us at The Resort at MarinaVillage. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed most aspects of your stay with the exception of your dining experiences. I want to assure you that I have brought this to the attention of the Restaurant Managers and they are addressing it with their staff. I would also like to mention that we are in the process of launching some new menus throughout our different dining options that will help ease the kitchen a bit to make sure that food is deliverd in a timely manner as your wait time is not acceptable.

We hope to see you again and look forward to your feedback on some of the changes that will be taking place.

Sincerely,
The Management Team at The Resort at MarinaVillage

Great place to stay! We stayed for 2 days over August 2011. Hotel was super clean. The suite was enormous. Never used the full kitchen, but would be great if you were there for a long time. Washer/Dryer in bathroom was a nice touch. The screen enclosed balcony was big enough to have a dinner party on. The view was great for watching incoming thunderstorms. The food was really good at the restrauant. You can see the dolphins playing in the river while you eat. Pool area was very large and clean. We also used the kayak rental place at the Marina. They were great! They took the time to advise us on the weather so we had a good experience.

If your focus is on great accomodations at a reasonable price this place is for you. The "rooms" are basically condos. We have stayed in a two bedroom and a two bedroom deluxe. Both are new and clean and modern. The pool is great. This is on the water, but not the beach. The views are beautiful overlooking the gulf, marina, and barrier islands. The best part of the rooms is the screened in lanai. Downside: If you want to walk to places-don't stay here. It is in a residential area. The drive to shopping (like a mall) is 30 minutes. Target is about a 15 minute drive. The Marker 92 restaurant is hotel food at hotel prices. A short drive is Cape Harbor resort with two really good places to eat: Rumrunners and The Joint. We end up there severla times during a stay. I found the staff to be great with the exception of the restaurant. The staff at the deli on the property seems to get overwelmed easily and it does not have the best selection. Coffee there is free for guests in the a.m., but not the best coffee. The plus is that your room has a full, stocked kitchen, so you can bring in your own groceries if you like.
