My husband, Myself and our two children (Both under 5) just moved here from MD and were very excited to find a beach nearby. The water this time of year is a little brownish and that was my only question and it was explained to me that it is a mix of salt and fresh water and therefore a mix and different types of algae can grow in it- because of this they test it weekly to make sure there is nothing growing that hsouldn't be since it could - it is not the ocean so it won't be Blue Green like Ft Myers Beach is - there are always some poeple but not too many - there is a great little restaurant right there, a park for children to play at, a boat ramp if you need it - and all the ameneties you might need for a few hours at the beach - this is not a "vacation" spot but a local beach for people to go to if you'd like to relax for an hour or two on a saturday.

This place is straight out of the '60s. The beach leaves a lot to be desired. There is little available parking. During the season the parking spots are taken up by trucks with boat trailers. The tiny eating establishment isn't worth the effort to walk up the ramp to place an order. The tennis courts are cracked and not well maintained. There is a nice fishing pier that juts into the river and is worth a 5 min walk. The pool is ok, when it's open, but there is little else this place offers. As an attraction for someone visiting, forget it. Go to Sanibel.

A diversity of amenities at this location. Fishing pier, restaurant, beach, community hall, picnic area and pavilion, handball courts, senior center, boat slips, marina, boat launch, swimming pool, and more...like Sunsets at the Pier on 1st Wednesdays of every month. Parking can be a problem, especially with boat trailers....areas are not marked well and lines are faded in parking lots, so be careful. Park rangers will ticket you for violations you won't even know that you are committing.

Ver good food. Great ambiance. Watching the sun set with the fire place going was really enjoyable. Very good food and good service as well. Music was a nice treat.

Between the beach, the playground, the barbecues, the tennis courts, the pool (if you don't like the river), the snack bar, there is always something to do, especially for the kids. Great for sunset pictures at dusk. Come on an event weekend and you may have trouble finding a parking space.
