My family and I went this past weekend to Dade Battlefield for the reenactment of the battle. I stumbled upon the information on the Florida State Parks website.
It was a great day and history lesson for my boys, ages 8 and 11.
There was a Seminole Indian camp and a US soldier camp. Different activities all morning leading up to the battle. Lots of vendors with native american and period items. Food vendors were available with lunch items and snacks.
The battle itself was very realistic and brought the battle to life. Sometimes it's hard to imagine something so long ago but this brought it to life before your eyes. A "survivor" comes back to narrate the story of the batlle.
Viewing is from a small berm with a blanket are and bleachers. Shuttle buses bring you from an offsite parking area.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I just wish there was more of this type thing available at other parks.
