Review of Torreya State Park

We stopped here to hike a little, on our way from the panhandle back to south Florida. There are hills! Or at least one nice, big hill we were able to walk down and then up. Being mountain people we miss such elevation changes here in Florida, and it is nice to find that! There are some interpretive markers pertaining to Civil War history. The park is on the Apalachicola River, which looked quite swift the day we were there. I am sure it is a nice place to camp, and also it was great for taking a break to stretch our legs during a long drive, and get one last blast of elevation before returning to a very flat place.

Beautiful state park! We stayed a couple nights in the yurt and had a wonderful time! This is truly the only way to camp in Florida during the summer. We plan on going back more often even though it's a drive for us. All of the rangers were friendly and informative. If you are camping, make sure you stock up on supplies before getting there...nothing around which we liked, but if we hadn't known that, it would have been an extra trip to get supplies. Bristol is probably your best bet to get gas and supplies.

My husbands family had reunions here and it's been too long since we've been back.its just has beautiful as we remember.the day was perfect for it.got there late in the day so it was not to hot.we missed the last tour of the house but hiked the trails and views from the house landings are wonderful looking over the river. They have camping sites and a playground with restrooms.one day we are going to stay at the yurt.

This is a small, quiet and well kept park with excellent hiking. There are two nice loops, we did one on each day. The Torreya Challenge was a little more back country, but both were beautiful. The campground is lovely, and not crowded when we were there. The restrooms were very clean.

This is a beautiful state park - you won't be disappointed. It's still close to town that you can run and grab something to eat or do laundry, etc. (there may be a laundry machine at the park, I'm not sure). There's a playground for the children that is well maintained. The sky is open and full of stars if you stand at one of the overlooks (Gregory house, RV lot, or hike to the bluff). Staff are super accommodating. If you bring your RV, call first to see which site it will fit in best.
