This is a small, cabin oriented, waterfront resort located on Lake Kabetogama in extreme northern Minnesota. Perfect for fisherman, boaters and those that enjoy outdoor life as it is right on the edge of the National Park. There are activities including crafts and ice cream socials plus plenty of quiet time.

Our family stayed in the Moose cabin which was clean and well outfitted. The setting is awesome, right on the beautiful water with the fantastic rock shoreline famous in northern Minnesota. We were there in September and it felt like the perfect time to be there. Our kids had fun kayaking, and we had a great time star gazing. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great getaway!

We highly recommend choosing Northern Lights Resort & Outfitting for your next vacation. Beautiful setting and clean cabins with excellent, friendly service by all of the staff. They consistently went the extra mile to help our stay be the best! From providing helpful tourist tips, to scheduled youth and family activities, to providing an ingredient in a dish I had planned to bake so that I didn't have to run to the store was really nice.

I lived on a lake while growing up in Minnesota and wanted my kids to experience the land of 10,000 lakes too! Our family of 4 road tripped form Indiana to Minnesota and it's very doable in one day. We chose to stop in Madison, WI on Friday night prior, to explore the Farmer's Market Saturday morning and get fresh produce for our week of vacation at the lake! On the way home we did it in one day without any problem.

We had an amazing 2 bedroom cabin, called the Muskie Lodge, that was a stone's throw from the water's edge and breath taking views of Lake Kabetogama and Voyageurs National Park woodland waterways. Our spacious cabin had all the comforts of home and was fully equipped. We spent a lot of time on the great deck in between outings and in the evenings our fire ring couldn't be topped! My daughter really enjoyed reading her book in our private hammock between times of romping and swimming with the other kids out on the sand beach and floating water park.

The resort has really nice boats to rent and for FREE for guests to use ( canoes, kayaks, paddle boards etc.). We did rent the Leisure Kraft Pontoon to do a day trip up to the Historic Ketttle Falls and had a really nice meal and enjoyed fishing too. My husband and daughter have a new shared passion in fishing and couldn't be more pleased. It was the first time our daughter had been out fishing and we thought it would be bonding time for father & son! On our return
trip from the falls we stopped by Ellsworth Rock Garden to explore. This is definitely something unique to put on your bucket list.

We loved seeing so much wildlife in such a short amount of time. What amazed us the most was watching the majestic eagles in flight and listening to the call of the loon. Our family played a game of guessing where the loon would pop up next after diving under the water. It was so much fun.

Our entire family believes we couldn't have found a better cabin to rent in a more beautiful spot and we highly recommend it to everyone. With all the activities, the kids loved it so much they didn't want to leave! We're already planning our next trip back and hoping to make it an annual tradition!

Our family of four went to NLRO during late August just prior to the kids returning to school. The Muskie cabin we stayed in was clean. The beds were perfect and the kitchen appliances were first rate. The views of the lake were pristine. The fire pit, hammock and dock were great amenities. The staff including the owners were friendly and very helpful with all questions we had about the resort and area activities. The weather was perfect weather with temperatures in the high 70s. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Our family will definitely be back for another family vacation.

Room Tip: Review the excellent website for planning your vacation.

All we did was rent a canoe from this venue, and we were amazed by how nice and generous everyone was. We chatted with Tracy, the owner, and know we'll certainly be back to stay in a cabin soon. The facilities were fantastic.
