This place closed a while back. Poor management and service had to have been the downfall. Food was usually OK. Someone else has taken it over and opened under a different name. Haven't tried the new folks yet.

“Wow!!!! You may think you hear banjo's!!!”
Reviewed April 30, 2012

We recently stayed in Lake City and looked long and hard to find a place on the river. We called to make a reservation and we were told we could sit on the patio. We set off to find it, and got lost intially but the owners daughter directed us there, and we arrived late. The restaurant is located down a very very long dusty dirt road. We almost turned around, but kept going, we say many deer along the side of the road. When we arrived we were shown to the patio and sure enough we had a great late day view of the river. The menu is mostly fried and they did have Prime Rib as a special and also a buffet and salad bar. Our waitress, the owners daughter was fantastic, especially considering that she was the only waitress on staff that night. We decided to start wih Lobster Bites, We were disappointed that it seemed to be imitation crab fried with a lot of batter. It was very soft and mushy, but we did eat most of it as it came with a great rasberry (I think) dip. We then got fried mushroom and corn nuggets, both just what you expect. Our dinners were a mixed review. The prime rib which we were told was fantasic was well done and tough despite asking for medium rare and medium. NOt much taste either. The fried shrimp was fair, and the pork chops were described as excellent. They had a buffet that was not appealing and a very small salad bar, but nice touch. We will probably never make it back that way again so the experience was appreciated.

“Nice setting, friendly service, average food”
Reviewed March 18, 2012

Our evening visit didn't allow us to see the river view although there were diners on the deck enjoying the breezes. Those inside had the pleasure of the band playing, I'm guessing, their own country music which, if not that good was at least not that loud. There were only a few diners there at 7 so we were seated immediately but then had to wait for the menu, the drinks and our dinner. Everything took time, but this is rural Florida after all. And so is the food. Everything in the buffet and most everything on the menu is southern style cooking; battered and deep fried shrimp, catfish, steak, gator... Although there were a few shrimp dishes that were just sauteed. The wine menu consists of red or white, but this county has just recently allowed the serving of alcohol so it may take time to get this right. The owner came around to ask about our meal and told us that his wife does all the cooking. And the food does indeed taste like it came out of someone's kitchen.
If you want to try typical deep south cooking this is a fun casual place where you can play pool or watch the river run.
