“We saw an alligator up close!!”
Reviewed May 18, 2014

Great place to visit especially if you've had it with strip malls, shopping centers etc. Regardless, it was beautiful to see so many different types of birds and reptiles and we saw an alligator (or was it a crocodile?) up close which the kids loved! Also, very much appreciated that there were many different options in terms of time/distance of walks so we could manage a lot of different ages in our group. The information center was great and worth stopping in either before or after your visit. One tip is that there are few places to get shade on the boardwalks so bring a hat etc. Have fun!

“Good viewing of nature in South Florida”
Reviewed May 14, 2014

It is a well maintained and well managed facility. I have visited this site many times and have gotten some great nature photographs I would give this nature site much higher marks BUT if your trying to observe nature and take photos be prepared for the WALKERS. The exercisers that are rude, loud and have cell phones. Not conducive to watching and enjoying in Silence. Rumble, rumble!!!!!!

“If you love nature & being outdoors, come here!”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

We live nearby and often go here to take a walk on the boardwalk which circles the wetlands. There is a 1 mile walk or you can add another 1/2 mile walk. There is a Nature Center which is great for old & young to enjoy. Has great exhibits showing how the water is captured and flows in and around the area via canals and lakes. In the early morning and early evening you will see lots of birds and ducks feeding, so be sure to bring your camera. Clean restrooms are available.

“Bird Walk!”
Reviewed May 6, 2014

We took the one mile chickee hut boardwalk and were glad to have water with us. There was more shade than Wakodahatchee, especially in the chickee hut (made as the Indians did back in the day), but plenty of sunshine. There's also a half mile boardwalk. We saw 33 species of birds in an hour or two walk. The Nature Center has bathrooms and is open Wed.-Sun. from 10-3. They show movies at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Even on a cooler May day the air conditioning was nice after our walk. They also have interesting programming on weekends, we regretted not being able to attend the nature photography workshop.
