Well worth the $8 per car entry fee. The beach is secluded, turtles galore! The sand isn't as "shelly" as a lot of other gulf side beaches we've been to, and the bathroom facilites are wonderful.

They also have a food truck there every day in case you forgot to pack your picnic.

Take in the beautiful homes as you ride back to Barefoot Beach with its butterfly pond, see a turtle crossing and have a refreshing shower in the mangrove trees. Spectacular beach, not crowded through the week. A must see. One of our nicest beaches.

All the other beaches had removed most of the fish from the beaches after the recent red tide except here which we thought was odd. So, we didn't stay too long. They have a nice volunteer/education center where you can identify your shells and ask questions about the birds and land tortoises.

Parking price is high if you don't have a sticker but other than that it is a beautiful spot!! The food / activities concession has changed hands so I cant comment on that. They used to be run by a wonderful couple who knew how to make great homemade real food but "fast". I hope it is still that way. The beach is just wonderful!!
