My family of 4 just returned from a week at this nearly perfect resort. We rented a 2 bedroom unit. This is a sample of what we got for our money:

-At least 1,000 sq feet of beautifully decorated space, with 2 kitchens, 3 terraces, 2 king beds, 2 large baths and a washer/dryer. The unit was silent.

-5 pools, including 2 kids pools and an awesome lazy river to float along.

-golf, tennis, volleyball, and poolside billards plus table tennis.

-Access to the nearby Hyatt Regency, an upscale hotel with georgous grounds and pools.

-Free access to the Hyatt's private island, via a lovely boat ride. We collected a bag of beautiful shells in about an hour on the beach.

-When a few lights went out in our unit, the hotel responded within minutes.

I have stayed in dozens of hotels and resorts around the world. This was in the top 2 or 3 and for families it cannot be beat.

My wife, two children and I stayed at the Hyatt Coconut Plantation in Naples Fl. We were there to attend a seminar conducted by the NY firm GSAM Asset management. The meetings were conducted in the sister hotel, the neighboring Hyatt Regency. We found the facilities as well as the support provided by the hotel at the highest level, which is what you would expect from a Hyatt Regency.

At the Hyatt Coconut Plantation we also found the right combination of business and relaxation. The facilities and the location to the beach and restaurants were definitely up to pare for a family from Manhattan. The Hyatt Coconut Plantation is part of the timeshare portion of Hyatt. The one we stayed in was a family oriented full service resort. Between child care (Camp Manatee) and the suites, it was conducive in making financial decisions with GSAM Asset Management. We would highly recommend this hotel/timeshare for both a getaway and for conducting business. I will also say that the hotel (The Regency) has a great golf course.

I don’t usually contribute to these types of feedback sites but it was worth it considering that we were very impressed, and we only stay in 4 and 5 star hotels/resorts when on vacation.

We own a timeshare through Hyatt and traded to go to this timeshare property. It is incredibly beautiful. The pools, awesome lazy river, and hot tub have waterfalls that really make this look like a 5 star resort. The grounds are impeccable and my husband loved the golf course. They have a great gym and a great lobby with checkers and chess in front of a lovely fireplace. Its sister property, the Hyatt Coconut Point Hotel, also had gorgeous grounds and pools.

However, when we went to the property in November, there were some issues. The first issue was the bugs (called no-see-ems by everyone there). The bugs were so bad that they definitely impacted our vacation. We were unable to go for walks around the property without getting attacked by these bugs. The property is known for its nature preserve but we could not explore and enjoy it at either the timeshare or the hotel because of the horrible biter bugs.

Another issue was the food expenses. Be prepared to pay. Even with a refrigerator in the room, we ended up running up a huge food and beverage tab in the 9 days we were there. At the sister property, the Hyatt Hotel, expect a lunch for 3 to run you $60-$80 and dinner for 2 to run around $125-$150. The snacks and drinks at the Hyatt Coconut Plantation were also expensive.

The last issue was that in November, with lighter crowds, there was not much to do at the property, other than the pools. The poolside bar was closed 7 out of the 9 days we were there. The other bar was open but understaffed and it closed at dusk every day. You are not allowed to swim or go in the lazy river or hot tub after dark. The activities were extremely minimal for a timeshare (usually there are lots of activities set up for children at timeshare properties).

Overall this is a gorgeous property but they need some work when it comes to the bugs, the activities, and the food and beverage options. Although it is beautiful, we would not stay there again.

We are a family with kids ages 8, 5 and 10 months. We had stayed at a two bedroom unit. It was huge with a full kitchen, two bathrooms, a balcony and a washer/dyer. We had stayed for one week and had wished we stayed longer for our vacation.
The property is new and very clean. There are two lagoon-shaped swimming pools, waterfalls and a river pool. The kids had a lot of fun! There are other activiites too (e.g. ping pong, basketball).
The Hyatt hotel is down the street and there is a shuttle bus. The hotel lobby was impressive but the grounds and pool seem dated. The hotel pool has a "corkscrew" style slide. Also, lots of fun. The hotel has a boat to take you to Big Hickory island (very nice). Bring drinks, snacks, food, towels and SUNSCREEN.
BEWARE of ALLIGATORS! The property has lakes with walkways around. We saw a baby alligator sunbathing (cute), BUT one morning I was driving out of the parking garage (for Dunkin Donuts) and I saw GODZILLAGATOR come running out! A few golf players shared that they see these huge gators all the time.
We had stayed as part of a time-share special. The 90 minute presentation was 3 hours! OK - Hyatt is a great hotel chain and the Hyatt Vacation Club locations are nice (e.g. Florida, Colorado, California). The units/villas are great for families and kids. I don't like the whole time-share thing (weeks, point systems and the annual maintenance fee $800.+).
The Hyatt Coconut Plantation is very nice and clean. I recommend it for families. The units are very convient (having a refrigarator). Naples is not too far (20-30 minutes) and there are lots of places to eat nearby too.

We stayed at the Plantation (the condo property) for three nights and had nothing but good experiences. We used the hotel's pool one day and had dinner at their award-winning Tarpon Bay restaurant one night (fun, comfortable atmosphere and super, fresh seafood menu). But the Plantation is really a special situation and only the service exceeds the beauty and functionality of the grounds.

The golf course is next door, the pools and lounging areas are first-class and the access to the private beach at the Gulf via their boat rounds out the whole package.

Yolanda (Plantation concierge) will take great care of your reservations and other requests.

A great American resort!!!

The Hyatt Coconut plantation is somthing special, surrounded by lush green grass, palm trees and beautiful grounds. The appartments were clean and attractive and had beautiful views. I stayed in the appartments which were very nice. They had 4 extremly attractive pools with waterfalls aand fountions and a very nice tooddlers pool. There was also a sauna and a steam room. Also to top it off a lazy river which is when you sit in a rubber ring and go round in a litlle river and stop off at difeerent areas which was very realking and had lovely, realxing atmosphere. There is also a kids club with many fun activites, kids play area, gym and golf course. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and they make your stay a fun and enjoyable one. You can also go free of charge to a little private island with a beach (where there is no other people!) , by a shuttle to the place and by boat, you see many intresting and pretty sites. I also had a look round the hotel part which is very stylish and smart and has absoultly amazing water features and surrondings. The pools are also very big and clean and very nice and has a few water slides. This hotel is the best hotel I have ever stayed in and i would strongly reccomened it. The coconut plantaion, once you have been there you WILL want to come back.

We just returned from spring break at this resort. The rooms were very large and beautifully appointed. They looked brand new. The service was great. On several occassions the staff went out of their way to help us without even being asked. My son loved the large pools and lazy river, as well as the shuffleboard and basketball court. Our room and the grounds were immaculate. Even though the resort was booked solid, it never felt crowded. Plenty to do at the resort and nearby including Red Sox spring training. We saw dolphins swim by as we swam at the resort's beach. I highly recommend this resort.
