My husband wanted to do this so rather than just going back and forth in front of Doc's for half an hour I thought why not do the full tour? Best decision I have ever made. This is one of those events that words cannot do justice to other than to say what a blast! You'll cruise along the coast, through Estero Bay, by Mound Key and up through Lover's Key. The tour has the right amount of James Bond full-tilt zooming over the water and leisurely idling as you see manatee, dolphins and all of the beautiful birds that populate this area. Our guide Andrew was absolutely terrific. Even if we hadn't seen one dolphin this still would have been a great day but the added bonus of watching a small pod jump and play as we cruised by made for a real memory we'll cherish. For anyone a little turned off by the $130 per machine price tag, I assure it's worth every penny. Also, don't be put off by the photo-taking your guide does, he's good at it and you'll be glad to have them. At first I was giving my spouse the eye as our guide kept snapping photos that I assumed would end in a sales push at the end. He gave us a couple print outs right away and there was no push. He simply offered the CD with about 70 photos, it was $20 bucks and after all the amazing things we'd seen, we snapped it up and considered it a bargain.
N.B. For any first-timers, it may be worth mentioning I have never been on a waverunner or jetski in my life. While the machines are very easy to handle, this does have its moments of 45-50 miles per hour. When we first took off (like a shot) I was a little concerned I'd gotten in over my head but I just grit my teeth and held on. Later on after some leisurely cruising at different speeds, I was more than ready to get back up to 45+ as we cruised back to base over the open ocean.
