“Fantastic Family holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2007

Our first stay in a hyatt resort and I am already looking for another for next year!!
This hotel was fabulous,Staff were attentive but not overwhelming, facilities in hotel were top class and the ideal location of this resort helped to provide us with many happy memories.
I would reccomend this hotel to anyone wanting a family holiday with an added bit of luxury. We never go back to the same place twice but for this hotel we could make an exception!!!

This was our first trip to Florida's west coast and we were so impressed with the Hyatt and it's property that we bought into the Hyatt Vacation Club while we were there.
The hotel entrance and lobby were elegant and we were impressed with the small shops you encountered upon arrival. During the time we were there the weather was fairly hot (>100 F with high humidity) but the hotel was cool and comfortable.
We stayed on the regency floor to try to maximize our experience and overall it was excellent. Since I made the reservations and had made arrangements for the hotel to provide a surprise breakfast on our anniversary date the staff all seemed to know and frequently congratulated us (they even made a special menu at the Tarpon Bay Restaurant).
The only time we were somewhat perturbed was when all the children invaded the Regency Club- it was a free for all on some occasions with minimal parental supervision. The staff were unfortunately lenient and so the behavior was never curtailed.
Overall this was an excellent experience.

We changed our venue this year after a disappointing week at the Don Cesar last July.
We loved this place. Service was excellent; all the food in all the restaurants was delicious and very well presented. Staff couldn't have been nicer.
My 11 year old grandson loved the pools, climbing wall, everything. We celebrated my birthday dinner at Tarpon Bay Restaurant and it was the best boulabaisse I've had ever.
The rooms were good size and very clean.

Read several reviews about pricey food and bad service. Not true at all. One doesn't expect cheap food at a place like this.

The towels are no problem, just give your name.

The property is lush, lovely and well maintained. Not a place for honeymooners!

Highly recommned.

My wife and I are retired and vist the US once or twice a year. Dont let the unimposing exterior put you off, this is a superb hotel in every respect. The rooms are of a size you would expect for this class of hotel with all the usual amenities but kept spotless by housekeeping with towels changes twice daily and soaps etc replenished. The refrigerator is not a mini bar so you can keep your own items in it. Check your room has a walk on balcony when booking as not all have. The staff were friendly and helpful and we were greeted by name by several. Especially helpful was concierge Jennifer Atkinson who not only recommended restaurants but wrote notes to to the owner to make sure we got five star treatment. Her friendly conversations and general knowledge were a highspot. The buffet breakfast included omelet bar, full range of hot dishes, waffles, pancakes etc cereals, breads, cakes, smoked salmon et al.Tipically for this hotel, they provided more you you could possible need. The pool areas were overprovided with loungers and never more than half full even when the hotel was. There were plenty of secluded areas which we especially liked. The plantings were eyecatching with many of the plants labeled - unfortunately they wont grow in the UK. The boat trip to their island was fun and cooling on a hot day. As we mainly like to eat out at restaurants we cant comment on the entertainment. We liked the option of self parking and used the garage under the hotel which kept the car cool. When our air con in the room went slow the repairman arrived within five minutes, fitted a new thermostat and sent us a complimentary cheese platter and bottle of wine as we had been inconvenienced. Summing up we both enjoyed the whole time we were there and have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, wether you are retired like us or young with a familly. We usually stay at Ritz Carton, Hyatt or similar.

We just returned from a 5 night stay at the Hyatt Regency in Bonita Springs. Overall our experience was great. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our family and friends.

The Room:

Our room was a nice size and pretty clean. We didn't have a problem with the maid service, they were great. There is a refridgerator and coffee pot in the room which made it nice as we ate breakfast in the room. We did have a balcony with two chairs and a little table. I did feel sorry for the floors that didn't have one. I would definitely recommend a floor with one.

The Pools:

My kids loved them. We swam mostly at the Childrens pool with the water slide. The towel rental process was easy except that you did have to sign out for them so that was a little bit of a hassle. Children do have to be 42 inches tall in order to do the water slide. They require all children who do meet that requirment to have a wrist band. We did visit the Hyatt Vacation club next door and enjoyed the lazy river there.

The Hotel Staff:

They were great. Always ready to help in anyway. Jennifer at the conceiarge desk was wonderful and even gave my husband and our friend a token for a free round of golf at the Raptor Bay Golf Club. They were very helpful with finding kid friendly restaurants for our families.

The Hyatt Kids club:

My children went from 9am-1pm and loved it. They did crafts, went to the Hyatts' private beach and they did feed them lunch. My kids didn't want to leave. It is a little pricey so they could only go once. They staff was wonderful there as well.

We did take advantage of the bonfire pit one night. We bought the smores kit from the gift shop and split it between our family and the family we were traveling with. The kids have fun with it.

The Spa:

This was my first time at a spa so I don't have anything to compare it to but I thought it was wonderful.

The restaurants on-site:

We ate at Corkscrew for lunch and Tanglewoods for Breakfast and dinner. It was a little pricey but you are at a resort. You can't expect inexpensive dining. The food was good as well as the service. We did end up eating off property more then eating on due to the prices.

I would Recommend:
1)Bring bug spray and use it. The mosquitos are everywhere.
2) Buy drinks (alcohol)/snacks/breakfast items off property. This will save you$$$.
3) Bring your own pool floaties and toys

Have fun!

We just returned from a great girl's weekend at this hotel. I will summarize, the good, bad, and well, strange.

The Good:
Ok, first of all, this hotel is absolutely lovely. It looks just like a Four Seasons when you walk in the entrance. We arrived at midnight and were greated warmly by the front desk attendant. The pools are great and a perfect temperature. The service at most of the restaurants was great (with a couple of exceptions noted below). The tuna sandwich at the pool bar is delish! We had two spa treatments, and the facilities are clean and well-kept. The services started right on time and they were of high quality. The staff was generally very accomodating and they were very quick to bring up a couple of gratis toothpastes that we forgot as well as a delivery for us.

There is A LOT to do here. There is a fire pit for roasting marshmellows, four pools, lots of amenities etc. Great place for kids...and adults.

The Bad
Our room had a TERRIBLE view of the roof of the main part of the hotel. There was no terrace on our room, although some floors had one, be sure to ask for it! They made you sign a towel "rental" sheet and threatened to charge you for unreturned towels. There was an additional $90 of taxes and "resort fees" added to our bill. The taxes I get, but the "resort fee"? I felt like I was being a bit nickel and dimed. There were a few glitches in the good service, most notably, we had a waitress at the pool who often disappeared for hours at a time.

The Strange
Two things jump out. First of all, there was a CRAB in the pool. Seriously. A crab. It was alive...and gross. Second, the spa treatment rooms all had windows...very unusual. Also, the spa therapists had this schtick where they put there arm over your shoulder to walk you to your treatment room. This happened in BOTH of my treatments and it felt very contrived and odd.

Off site:

We had a couple of awesome meals offsite as well as some great shopping. The Outlets at Miromar are where it's at! Also, try eating at Blue Point Bistro at Coconut Point Mall right across the street from the hotel. Wonderful seafood and foo foo cocktails.

All in all, the hotel and vacation itself was a great experience and I would recommend the entire facility. But, bear in mind, this is not a four star hotel...it is family friendly, and comfortable, but, it is not priced as a Ritz and there is a reason for that.

We recently went to the Ritz Carlton Naples for 4 nights and then to the Hyatt for 4 nights. People on this site had said they saw no difference, but there is no comparison. I have never written an online review, but I wanted to so others wouldn't make the same mistake.

I found the hotel unkept and not very clean (3 days after my child spilled their smoothie, the mess was still there). Service was mediocre. My husband and I felt like we were in the middle of an office park. There were many conventions when we were there and they all decided to do their break out sessions in the lobby. I don't want to see people doing work on vacation. To top it off, people were smoking in the kids area of the pool, but the hotel said there was nothing they could do about it.

The pros are: the kids loved the water slides and the lazy river. The concierges were helpful although they had us eat at the shopping mall across the street every night (not my idea of a nice vacation). The spa is very nice.

I just wish there were more reviews that indicated the hotel was not that great. If you are used to 5 star, try the Ritz.
