“A fun nature trail and alligator feedings too!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2012

This is a fun place to take your kids and walk the nature trail with them. You can stop and talk about things you see while you are walking--birds, trees, plants, etc...and with no distractions out on the winding boardwalk trail, it's a fun place to really talk to your children and create some memories. No cell phones, no video games. Just nature and time. There are the cutest baby alligators in a tank within the center, and on certain days, they offer a view at an alligator feeding. A member of the staff will come to the tank to talk to guests about the alligators, and then allow a viewing of the gator's meal. It's a safe way to view alligators up close.

“Fun for Young Children - just skip the boardwalk”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2011

Daggerwing is a quanit little nature center in the South County Park boasting an amazing amount of butterflies in their small butterfly garden. The displays inside are fun for the children with the giant bee and animal displays. The Screech Owl was a hoot and the skunk was adorable, the kids liked all the different animals. I found my 4 and 6 year olds especially engaged in the eductaional video displays.

The boardwalk was a huge disappointment compared to others in the area. There was minimal wildlife on the .6 mile walk and the vegetation was not appealing - lots of strangler figs with little else compelling. Better boardwalks at Green Cay, Wakodahatchee, Loxahatchee or Ah Tah Thi Kee. Daggerwing like those are all free - that's the best part.

“Great boardwalk-Free, but a one time visit at best.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 18, 2011

Since we're short on funds, this place was just perfect because it was free. I had with me a 10 and 4yr. old. Inside there is basically only 4 animals to see, but my oldest was super captivated by the owl which is in the back of the museum...you might even miss it if you don't walk around the entire floor. The best aspect was the boardwalk and lookout deck. My 4 yr.old is full of energy and this gave him a chance to explore and waste some energy. It has been drizzling all week so even if there's a few sprinkles it was fun just to get out of the house. Afterwards we went to the playground on the park grounds and it was just perfect. Wouldn't be able to go back b/c there's not much there, but glad I checked it out. We spent a hour at the place between museum and boarwalk...spent about 2hrs at the playground.
