“Great little brew pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 17, 2014

I visited this little place three nights during a recent business trip to Boca Raton. It's filled with polite and friendly locals to know and appreciate good beer, The bar tenders were outgoing, helpful, and anxious to discuss the beer menu.

The Funky Buddha brews their own beer and had roughly six of their own on tap at any given time. The selection changed between Monday and Friday, and the variety and quality was impressive. I especially enjoyed their Red Ale. The bottle selection and craft brews on tap were impressive for such a small place.

Food definitely takes a backseat to the brew. The selection is limited to a few personal size pizzas, some panini sandwiched and a few salads and apps. They try hard to be creative with their small menu, with moderate success. The food was decent and inexpensive, but it's not going to be what draws anyone here. The next time I'm in Boca I'm coming back for the beer, the friendly service and the eclectic atmosphere.

“Do not go here for hookah. ”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2014 via mobile

It's a brewery that happens to serve hookah. The service is subpar. Especially when it's busy. Serve yourself via the bar, as no one came to our table until after I complained after 15 mins of practically no acknowledgement. There seems to be an extreme inconsistently in training as their was an extreme harshness of the first poorly packed bowl. Why am I paying top dollar for instant light coals??? Quality over quantity. Menu is confusing and was never given to me (I had to get it myself). This place uses low grade products and charges out the $$$. Never in my life have I experienced such a horrible service for social smoking. Get it right.

“Best brewery in south florida”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2014 via mobile

We are regulars at funky buddha in boca raton. It's a fantastic place to get craft beers locally. Every brew that they release is amazing. We come for the hookah and happy hour. $10 hookah and bogo beers. If you're in the area you need to hit up funky buddha

“good beers, chill vibe”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2013

The house brews are tasty. the 2 4 1 happyhour is a great deal, and they have something like 8 or 10 on tap and another bunch of guest beers on draft as well. The bottle menu is quite impressive and offers lots of choices, with some rare and pricey beers as well. Food menu is very small, limited to some personal pizzas, paninis, and appetizer items. But people don't go here for the food. I didn't try any of the hookah business, and I ignored the wine offerings.

It was a slow night when i visited, and the bar tenders were friendly and attentive enough. I would go again, based mostly on being a beer lover.

“Great little hangout.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013

Not sure why the Funky Buddha is listed as a restaurant, although they do have small plates - it is brewery first and foremost. You must understand this place is right around the corner from a few colleges so you can expect a younger crowd - other reviewers have complained about the slow service, or no service at all which is basically true. You see, the crowd who populates the place are young, laid-back, and chill - can't expect the service to be much different. The place is small and when the band plays it is loud enough to disrupt your conversation, so just enjoy the music.

Ordering at the bar is the fastest way for service. Eventually someone will make it out to check on things and collect glasses/dishes/hookahs but don't rely on that for service. The vibe in here is relaxing and casual.. a great place to chill with your friends for a while.

They have a good selection of regular and premium shisha flavors (hookah) and live entertainment just about every day of the week. The rates for Hookah are standard for the area and surrounding counties. Funky Buddha beer has unique flavor profiles and is just plain good. The beer is inexpensive compared to MANY bars and restaurants you will find in south Florida. So having a good time doesn't cost a lot -- perfect for a college student.

Beer & Tobacco is not where it ends at the Funky Buddha, they also serve Kava, have a delicious selection of tasty teas, coffee, microbrew soda, and small plates of food/dessert.

You can also get homebrew supplies in their shop adjacent to the lounge area, but it's closed during the night hours.

TIP: Check the website before you go or you might be surprised to pay a cover after 8/9PM if there is a band playing. If you get in and settled before then, there is no cover and you can stay to watch the show for free.
