“Excellent beach!”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

I was tempted not to write a review because I don't want to ruin this gem of a peaceful beach!
This is a great wide beach. It is a nice peaceful area. i think that since you have to pay to get onto the island and into this state park it keeps some of the rift-raft out. We have seen dolphins right out from the lighthouse on several occasions. This is not a beach for swimming because of rip currents, but is a nice beach for tanning, picnic, shelling, relaxing and watching the sunset some people fish here too, but that isn't my thing). This is a good beach for children and adults who like to relax in the sun. You can find lots of good shells here and sometimes coral! Just remember not to take anything that is alive. :-)

“Beautiful quiet beach in the morning!”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

We traveled to Boca Grande in mid February. The town and restaurants were fairly crowded. We decided to go to the beach around 8:45 til 10:30. What a gorgeous experience!! There were only at most 15 others on the miles of beach. What a special experience!!

“What a gem”
Reviewed February 5, 2013

Thanks to relatives who live in Port Charlotte, we were taken to the beach at Boca Grande. Few people were on the beautiful beach so we had it to ourselves, which was very special. The town is stunningly beautiful, the lighthouse towers above the palms. Our lunch at The Bean was super. It is an old train station, post office and jail. It has lots of character. You kind of expect Humphrey Bogart to be at the bar. The fish sandwich was super and Tim the owner is a real cool dude.

“White sand, turquoise water, just breath taking!”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

Beautiful , breath taking beaches. Boca Grande is a little island like area.

There is a toll booth on weekends, and free weekdays from what i remember. I could be wrong but i know i paid once , and the other time i didnt.

Have cash on you to come here, some of the parking areas near the beach require payment to park. Parking lot gets full by 10-11am, so come early.

Just to speak about the beach specifically, it was awesome. Super soft white sand, crystal clear water. Lots of room for you on the beach, not too many people.

First time we were at the most southern point of the beach near the historic light house.

Be careful of the depth of the water, its all different. Some areas become very deep within a few foot steps of getting in the water, yet other areas you could walk 50 feet out and be only as deep as your waist. VERY STRONG CURRENTS AT TIMES AS WELL....be careful.

Made the mistake of swimming 100 yards away from people fishing, that brought in a 8 foot shark to clear the water! LOL so keep your eyes open
