My family loved our time here! We stayed in one of the cottages. My daughter was on crutches, so we rented one of the golf carts for her ease. Otherwise, most healthy people can get everywhere on foot easily. The pool was very nice, with a poolside bar with many drink choices. My husband was there on business, so the company picked up the tab. In all honesty, it costs more than I would personally like to pay, but for those with the appropriate budget for it, it is a nice place. We aren't golfers, so we have no review of the highly ranked golf course, unfortunately. We enjoyed a fishing trip and also a boat ride out to Cabbage Key. The boat ride was very nice and gave us a wonderful chance to see dolphins diving and playing in the boat's wake! The docks where we boarded were also very nearby, about a block away! The pool and fitness center closed around 6 or so, which I felt was terribly early and a real shame. I like to workout after my kids are in bed so as not to take away from family time, but that wasn't possible with such limited hours. We really enjoyed the food in the restaurant, but again, glad someone else was paying!

Room Tip: I liked the cottages since they have a direct, private entrance. Many times we were coming from the...

This old hotel is as charming and unforgeable as the beautiful little island surrounding it. The historic preservations of this facility are a return to the glory days of the last century. My wife and I spent three nights and wanted to stay a little longer. It's not difficult to get into the spirit of the old hotel with its hardwood floors, solid wood doors, slow elevators and wide staircases. We had a few children on our floor who were having a great time running along the hardwood floors and making a bit of noise, but that would have been us about 50 years ago!

Dining in the restaurant is a real treat, somewhat expensive but what we'd expect from a fine hotel. We had a wonderful dinner and breakfast there and also found many reasonably priced restaurants within walking distance. Dinner at "The Temptations" restaurant was very good and breakfast at The "Outlet at the Inlet Motel" was almost more than we could eat.

One of the highlights of the Gasparilla Inn is their fantastic beach club which is a short walk from the hotel. It includes a wonderful exercise facility, restaurant and tiki bar by the pool which is alongside an incredible beach area. Its very nice to spend a full day hanging out there, reading a book and gazing out to the beautiful sea on lounge chairs and all the towels you would ever want.

We played the golf course at the Gasparilla Inn twice and it is really fun to play. It is by no means an easy little resort course but fairly challenging with rolling greens. Many of the holes are adjacent to the gulf so the seascape views from the course are very special.

This would not be a complete review if I didn't comment on the island itself. It is truly one of the greatest get-a-way destinations we have ever enjoyed. Most of the traffic is golf carts - there are actually roads designed only for golf carts that seem to go everywhere. This helps to provide a very quiet and peaceful environment and its very entertaining to see people with kids and dogs lolly-gagging about the island. One evening we took the car out to explore the south end of the island and were blown away by the beautiful homes and the pristine beaches within the numerous state park facilities. We had a relaxing dinner at the "South Beach" restaurant and bar which is right on the beach and there are photos on the walls of the old florida days which reminded us of vacations and experiences we had years before.

Without a doubt we will return to the Gasparilla Inn and this charming little island.

Gasparille Inn & Club is one beautiful place! You get the conveniences of a modern-day resort, yet the beauty and feel of "old Florida"! The rooms are good size, very comfortable, and extremely clean. You have the choice of staying at the historical inn, or in one of their nearby cottages. Everything in the inn and cottages is decorated in natural colors with a definite beach-feel! All areas are VERY inviting and relaxing. Check-in is a breeze with services readily available. The outdoor pool, which is a 3-4 minute walk, or you can rent a golf cart to ride, has a backdrop of the Gulf of Mexico. Once you are in this area, it's not necessary to go back to your room; there are plenty of restrooms, changing areas, and a lunch buffet is available, which is wonderful! The Inn holds many weddings in this area because of it's beauty. There was one during one of the nights we were there; this is all done without inconvenience to other guests. Other services are available are sauna and massage. The golf course is beautiful, and tennis is also available. The restaurant at the Inn is superb. The service is excellent, as well as the food! The staff is very efficient and professional, yet friendly. They are very kid-friendly, even supplying small toys to entertain the short diners! We enjoyed walking into the quaint town where there are places to eat, as well as to shop! We took many, many pictures of the town's lighthouse and all around the historic Inn. I would HIGHLY recommend this WONDERFUL resort!

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the "cottages", which suited us just fine. We particularly enjoyed th...

We just spent our anniversary at the Gasparilla Inn & Club in Boca Grande and had a fabulous time. The accommodations are large, comfortable and very clean. The Inn itself is a large two story building painted in historical colors of yellow and white with a big verandah on the front and is surrounded by classic palm trees. We stayed in one of the "cottages" which have been built around the main Inn. Ours had a large bedroom, nice bathroom with loads of storage, a generous living room and a huge lanai which was air conditioned. The color palette in the rooms follows the historical colors of the hotel; soft yellows, greens, white with spots of blue and peach. There are security doors between the individual rooms in the cottages so depending on the number of guests with you there are one to four bedrooms which can be opened up as one large unit. As soon as you drive up to the property there are young men to help with your luggage and the gals behind the front desk were very warm and welcoming. We had an easy check-in and were in our cottage in just minutes; very efficient. The hotel is not directly on the Gulf; it is an easy 3-5 minute walk to the Beach Club or you can rent a golf cart which is the major means of transportation in this area. The Beach Club has two pools, a restaurant, beach chairs and umbrellas, a bar, an exercise room and a banquet hall. The hotel is a great venue for weddings; there was one each night we were there (one at the Inn and one at the Beach Club) but they were secluded and were not disruptive to other guests. There are tennis courts, a golf course and two main restaurants in and around the Inn. The main dining room is located in the Inn and the Pink Elephant is toward the Marina and back of the property. There is also room service; order milk and warm cookies in the evening! Overall we found our weekend to be very relaxing and would love to return again for another romantic anniversary!

Room Tip: While the rooms in the Inn were quiet spacious we enjoyed the quietness of the cottage along with th...

If you want to rediscover "old Florida," stay here for awhile. The island does not allow high rises, so it has retained it's charm and the village is a lovely 3 -4 square block area filled with nice shops and restaurants (no chains). The Inn is a big, old wooden building - yellow with white trim, rambling and lovely. The common rooms are decorated with flowery fabrics and wicker - you just want to sit and relax with a lemonade!! Service is very good, the rooms are fine, the beach is fantastic, food is very good, and there is tennis, golf, a big fitness facility with many classes, and a lovely spa complete with a child free lap pool. Go here if you want to slow down and smell the hibiscus!

We just returned from Gasparilla Island and loved the atmosphere. For clarity's sake we are friends with many of the Hotel employees but regardless it was a wonderful experience and we will be returning. We are a family of four (two teenage boys) & were pleased with the ability to have a high-end vacation with lots of less expensive options. We sat by the pool & overlooked the most magnificent view of the Gulf with its azure blue waters while sitting under bright yellow umbrellas being served beverages of all kinds. A lunch buffet is offered in the same area with fresh salmon, asparagus etc but my 14 year old was also able to order a plain cheeseburger. The cottage is centrally located & had a fridge which was great because as much as my boys eat we ran to the grocery store across the bridge & stocked up on snack foods. The Inn has a great breakfast buffet at $24.00 which was endless amounts of fruit, eggs, pancakes & they have eggs benedict etc. We also went to the Inn Bakery and had lots of fresh donuts, danishes & coffee for $16.00 so there are lots of options. We rented a golf cart (the preferred method of transportation) and had blast letting the boys chauffeur us around. The Pink Elephant was our favorite hotel restaurant but we also went to the Eagle Grill Marina & enjoyed watching the big yachts & the manatee & dolphins and my son fished right off the dock. The waitress there even knew our town because her aunt was from a neaby town. Great community which was beautiful, relaxing etc You can charter deep sea fishing, sea planes, paddleboards, bikes etc - only comment - BOOK AHEAD no matter what the concierge says. We were told it would be slow and could book when we got there & that was not the case. But we are def going back!

Room Tip: If you have kids I would recommend the cottages because of all of the space, sep tvs, fridge & b...
