I had a very nice breakfast at the Gasparilla Inn Main Dining Room. The service was top notch and the atmoshere was very quaint. Prices were higher than you would normally pay for breakfast but the food was quite good. Nice menu options for those who like seafood and those who do not care for it. Attire is neat casual for breakfast.

Showed up without Jackets. Staff was super- and they had every size! The dining room is large, but divided well so you feel like you have your own space. We were expecting a "grand old place" and got it - but it was far more affordable than we anticipated. Very nice wine list at moderate and above prices. Service was excellent as well. Food was also very good, with medium sized portions.

Eating is about food; dining is more than food. The Main Dining Room at the Inn is a grand place in a traditional Floridian style with service to match. The menu mixes fresh seafood with favorites iike beef tenderloin. Everything is beautifully, if not creatively, prepared. We had the best of the ubiquitous Florida dessert, key lime pie, we'e had anywhere. It's a place to spend a delighful evening and, perhaps surprisingly, at a price about the same as other, lesser restaurants in the area.

This is a "dining experience"!. The inn is beautiful and most gracious in its decor. We live in the area and dine there a couple of times a year, usually with guests that would appreciate the elegance. Not a place for kids (under forty). There were four of us for dinner and we had drinks in the lounge first. The entire inn has been done over since the hurricane and they did a great job. Drinks were generous and well prepared. The bar tender was attentive. The dining room was about half full which is normal this time of year although reservations are mandatory. The salads and my goose pate' were excellent. The wines good but a little expensive and the pour was a little chintzy for $15 a glass. Two of us had the lamb loin (four small pieces of lamb for $48). Delicious but not worth the price. Angela had the Black Grouper and her friend had the broiled sea scallops. Both were happy although the scallops were undercooked for my taste. The service started out very well but there was a large and very noisy party in an adjacent private dining room that evidently was spending a lot of money so the Dining Room Manager stripped the main dining room of every wait person to keep them lubricated. As a result there was a long wait after we finished dinner for the plates to be cleared and desert to be served. We twice asked for the door to the private room be kept closed because of the noise but clearly this party was receiving priority preference over guests in the main dining room so we were basically ignored. Bottom line, an enjoyable and expensive ($500) dinner for four in a gracious setting spoiled at the end by a bad management decision.
