We anchor here at least once a year. Very peaceful and well protected. A great place to explore the many trails and several beaches. Check out the bioluminescence if you are lucky enough to be aboard a boat at anchor at night.

“"Cayo Costa" An island Paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2013

We Come here to make port. through out the summer sailing season. Pelican Bay on the leeward side of the(Cayo Costa)island is excellent for cruisers. Just west of the Intracoastal waterway and just north of the famous island of "Cabbage Key." A tram will take you to the windward side of the island for shelling and strolling along the shore. Keep an eye open you may see Sea turtles a Gopher Tortoise or Feral Hogs and lots of birds. One thing that is missing though is shade, their were huge Australian pines. but the wacko environmentalist have had them cut down. still Cayo Costa is well worth the visit you will always remember this place and will probably return

“A Great Island for Shelling!!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013

We chartered a boat to Cayo Costa State Park, and had a great time shelling. It's a beautiful island, with a wide, flat beach of fine white sand. The shelling was excellent - lots of beautiful and unique shells.

“Cayo Costa = Virgin paradise in Florida”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

Being in Cayo Costa is the same as traveling to a far island in the pacific or Caribbean minus the hassle. Perfect beaches, perfect water, wild dolphins while taking a plunge in the water. Amazing sunsets, great camping areas. Simply amazing...

“Beautiful Island”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 13, 2013

I've been to this beautiful Island many times through the years by private boat and the ferry (although I have never camped here) and each time I found tons of nice shells, a lot of white sand, and clear water. The only bad part is that the Environmentalists had all the Casuarina trees cut down because they are not indigenous to the area. They were really nice trees that provided a lot of shade. It is one of my favorite places to go when I visit Florida.
