First kayak trip for my wife and I and it was great. Cpt. Bill knowledgeable about the wildlife and had some good stories about the area. The 2.5 hour trip was actually a little over 3. Bring some bottled water with you.

We used this company 8 years ago and had such a great experience we brought our family back to do it again. Amazing experience to kayak through the mangroves and wonderful, knowledgeable guides. Captain Sarah was great, full of information and an enjoyable personality. Highly recommend for a memorable experience!

Helpful, friendly kayaking crews who get you out on the open water. Paddle thru hidden coves, among the mangroves, or head out into open water. Their full moon kayaking trips are the best!

Cody was great! took 2.5 hour tour through the mangroves that was closer to 3 hours. Not rushed at all, very patient with new paddlers. I've kayaked for years but he still taught me a thing or two. Plenty of remnants from Irma in the mangroves.

Actually, we first attempted to book with Captain Marcus of Florida Keys Kayaks and Eco Tours. Unfortunately, Captain Marcus was suffering from a serious bout of Keys Disease (couldn't respond to emails, return phone calls, or remember previous conversations). So we gave up on Marcus and went with Captain Bill who was considerably more responsive.

For the record, Big Pine Key took the brunt of Hurricane Irma in September of 2017. There is evidence of the storm everywhere including the mangrove forests which were pretty torn up. We heard lots of stories about Irma on this trip to the Keys and Bill had a few good ones of his own.

Bill has spent much of his life in the lower Keys as a photographer, naturalist and guide. His mellow sense of humor and optimistic outlook were a real pleasure. His genuine excitement at spotting a ray or a nurse shark was infectious. When they make the movie "Captain Bill of Big Pine Key" I think Kevin Costner should play Bill.

We were out on a breezy day and the temperature was in the upper 60's. Bill navigated us to the leeward side of some large mangrove forests where we could be sheltered from the wind. Bill's running commentary on the birds, fish and flora of Big Pine Key were interesting and entertaining.

We were out on the water for maybe three hours. It is definitely a good idea to have a decent hat and a long-sleeved shirt with a high SPF. The paddling in our tandem kayak was not strenuous at all and my wife always insists on paddling in the opposite direction that I am paddling. The most challenging aspect of the trip was transferring from the kayak back into Captain Bill's skiff. I managed to do it but recommended that Captain Bill should get a winch.

Once we were back at the dock we discovered that we were less than a one minute drive from the No-Name Pub which was perfect for an apres paddle lunch.

We had a really lovely sunset paddle with our guide, Cody. The wind was pretty stiff so we crossed over to No Name Key and took had a leisurely paddle along the mangroves. We saw sponges, a green heron (twice), a kingfisher, white heron, black mangrove snake, mullet, hermit crab, Key Deer, horseshoe crabs - so many things that I would have missed on my own. Once we got to the north side of the Key, the wind picked up again - we paddled into it for a while then let the wind and current take us back along the Key and under the bridge. The light was gorgeous and Cody was an entertaining and informative guide. It was a wonderful way to be out on the water. (Tiffany in the office was also very helpful!)

We took the afternoon to paddle over to no name key. Visited the small wreck, saw a shark and several small different smaller fishes.
The service was ok and the gear was "so so" but the water and the experience was perfect.
The place is a short drive from the main road but agreat and simple adventure.

Family kayak trip with 7 of us through the mangroves. Our guide Sera was great, very laid back and obviously cares about you having a relaxing and enjoyable trip as well as keeping you informed. A little tip about the mangroves, mosquitoes ! Dress properly and think bug spray, the experience is great but one of us was bitten up by the mosquitoes to the point that Sera gave her the long sleeve shirt off her back to finish the tour !! That is a caring guide !! Thanks again for that Sera, we would all recommend hitting the water with you any day !
