If you want a lovely cup of tea and the best rock cake on the planet then visit the Glenesk Folk Museum and before or after enjoying your repast view the vast selection of artefacts showing the history of Glenesk but be warned we may be the last generation to see some of the old horse leathers as they have not been kept oiled and many of the old farming implements are rusting away.

The Folk Museum advertises itself as the typical folk museum, agricultural implements, old photos, reconstructed rooms...but it is so much more, it is a really impressive collection, especially in the costume and archaeology material. Where else would you just see one of Queen Victoria's dresses? Well worth a visit.

On a camping weekend, we stopped to visit this little museum. Great way to look back on how Glenesk used to be. Allows you to walk round a big house in stages from years ago to present day. Cosy wee place right in the heart of Glenesk. Recommend a visit here.

The museum was informative, good insight into the lifestyle and hardships people lived through in days of old. Good shop and cafe/restaurant
