“Modern sophistication, ocean view & professional service”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

We dined at J & G Grill located in the St. Regis in Bal Harbour for the first time with a couple from out of town. The recently opened oceanfront St. Regis resort is refined with a very tranquil ambiance. As you drive up to the entrance you are promptly welcomed by the valet staff. The entrance and grand hall are very glamorous. There was live background music in the chic St. Regis Bar. There are beautiful marble floors throughout, which I happen to know were specifically imported for the St. Regis. Incidentally, I noticed that it was distracting to hear the attractive cocktail waitresses walk back and forth on the marble floor in their high heel pumps. Perhaps this is the only detail the St. Regis overlooked - discreet suade or rubber sole high heel pumps.

Upon arriving at J & G Grill we were greeted by a polished and friendly hostess. The dining room is very open with high ceilings and beautiful ocean view. We had a apéritif at the bar before being seated for dinner. By the time we decided to have dinner it was dark and the only view is of the pool. The food was tasty and the service was good. However, the entree servings from the grill are a bit skimpy given the price point and that they are a la carte. Overall we had a wonderful evening with our friends and experiencing The St. Regis as well as J & G Grill. Although we live in the area I do not know if J & G Grill is a place we would frequent.

“A spectacular evening--with a breathtaking view”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

The entire staff did everything right for our first wedding anniversary celebration. The service was a fine performance in etiquette. The food was delicious and the single glass of wine selected for my meal by the sommelier was a perfect match.

I will remember this night for the exemplary manner in which the staff served us. And I will remember the food--it was marvelous.

We chose the venue for our specail dinner and we were Wowwed!

“Best Brunch”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

We enjoyed a wonderful brunch here on two occasions. The tables offer a great view of the ocean, pool and gardens. A really spectacular setting. I highly recommend the special eggs benedict. It was a blend of poached eggs, Spanish chorizo, crispy polenta, olives, tomatoes and a tomato hollandaise. Yum!! Pass on the scrambled eggs with crabmeat, they weren't that great . The Pineapple mojito was excellent. The service was very friendly and unobtrusive. Since the hotel is set back a ways from the road, it's a good distance to walk anywhere else for meals. So it's fortunate to have such a nice dining option inside the St. Regis.

“Relaxed Sophistication & Savory Seduction”
Reviewed September 2, 2012

It's the relaxed sophistication the captivates you first. And then the food itself completes the seduction. On this first of soon-to-be-many visits, we sampled a remarkably light fresh fettuccine bathed in a creamy parmesan and black pepper sauce, as well as a delectable salmon sashimi.

The grill menu-- my personal favorite-- allows you to choose from extraordinarily fresh fish and meats that are simply seasoned, grilled and accompanied by your choice of any number of sauces that are served on the side. I chose grilled red snapper with a sample of two sauces -- a champagne beurre blanc (Outstanding!) and, out of curiosity, a papaya mustard. Notably the latter was better suited for a hearty pork or veal chop. That's OK, though. Now, I know what I'll be having next time.

And there will definitely be a next time!
