Dan Butler's food is reliably excellent in all his restaurants, and perhaps especially at this seafood focused venue. It's also convenient to anything you might be doing in downtown Wilmington in the evening - DuPont Theater, The Grand, Jazz Festival, etc. Try it, you'll like it.

On the pricy side, Deep Blue is the best table we have tried downtown. The bar as you enter is welcoming and always busy. The dining room is spacious has quite a few tables but does not feel crowded. Food is delicious, the tuna poke in their smalldish list is just amazing (tuna, avocado on a wasabi jelly).

We went to this place before a comedy show in downtown Wilmington. the apps were amazing, but the entree of crab cakes were a joke. Expensive for Mrs Pauls type crab cakes. Kind of a shame as this place had a crap load of hype, but seriously avoid the crab cakes. The cost was $175 with tip for 2 people.

It had been a few years since my wife and I last visited Deep Blue. We made reservations for a Saturday night but didn't need them. (Although it does get crowded when there is a show in town.) We each had a drink - she a glass of red wine and me a martini. She started with the spinach salad and I had the poached pear salad. Both were very good. Then, we each had the salmon entrée which included butternut squash with goat cheese ravioli. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Our total bill was $93 before tax. Our server was ok - he need a little work on the frequency to check back with you. We'll plan to go back again.

Staying one night at the nearby Sheraton and ventured out to eat and lucked into Deep Blue. Walked in at 6:30 and the bar area was full and quite lively with the after work crowd. I tried an Alaskan king crab leg tempura appetizer and salad that was both very interesting and delicious. For my main course, I had a nicely prepared halibut dish. The menu offered a nice range of innovative seafood dishes. Would definitely recommend. A lucky find!
