Owner description: Delaware's only zoo, the Brandywine Zoo sits in scenic Brandywine Park in Wilmington, Delaware. This small zoo packs a lot of punch into only 11 acres. Featuring endangered species such as an Amur tiger, Andean condors, red pandas and more, and accredited by the American Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the Brandywine Zoo works to educate the public, connect people with animals, and strengthening global conservation.

This zoo is extremely small but it's size has the advantage of not being crowded even in the height of the season. The animals are well kept and cared for and the variety is quite nice with African conures, a tiger, American otters and goats that you can pet. It is worth it if you are in the area (a great place to have a picnic) but don't go out of your way.

Because it's small, you don't need to plan a major day out: a couple of hours is all you need. I live close by and visit a few times a year. There are no crowds, no lines. And it's just a few steps away from the lovely Brandywine Park and the river. Sadly, the Monkey House was destroyed by a falling tree earlier this month.

Great, clean place to spend a little time with younger kids. Adjacent to the park, so nice atmosphere. Perfect before a stroll in the park. It's quite small but cute. The folks that work here seem to care about the animals and the visitors which is nice. They have a fun petting zoo which kids love. But, be warned...if you visit the monkeys, it is very stinky...especially in the warmer weather...but worth it.

i needed something to do for the afternoon. parked at the brandywine park walked over. its about 8 dollars for both of us. staff is not very friendly but answers direct questions. i was also amazed how the talk to the animals and their respond. they obviously very involved! its the first time we saw everything in the zoo with taking our time. we saw serval, clouded leopard, amur tiger, golden tamarins... very exotic. they also have llamas, goats, otters, bunnies, condors, toucans. it was great experience. we had hot dogs, churros and ice cream. we got somethings at the gift shop. after we were done we walked around brandywine park, along river and watched geese, rapids, flowers it was fun.

For a little zoo, they really offer a lot. The kids never fail to come away thrilled and there always seems to be zookeepers on hand to offer an educational experience for them- so they learn something new as well.
