For a little zoo, they really offer a lot. The kids never fail to come away thrilled and there always seems to be zookeepers on hand to offer an educational experience for them- so they learn something new as well.

The Brandywine zoo was very small, but very pretty. It was a good size for touring with my 3 year old twins.. the animals were up close and easy for them to see. The zoo is within a nice little walking park with picnic tables which is also nice. I would say that if you are looking for a big exciting zoo with exotic animals- this is NOT the place for you- drive the 40 minutes to the Philadelphia Zoo- BUT if you are looking for a cute place to bring your littles ones for an hour or so- that is not crowded or overwhelming.. This IS the place.

The Brandywine Zoo is very small but is great for a visit, especially with young children. The zookeepers, while not particularly friendly, obviously have great affection for the animals and the zoo itself is extremely clean. The Amur tiger is absolutely stunning and the river otters have a nice enclosure. While the animals may not be so exotic, the snow does have a lot of information on each animal. It is also very affordable, which makes it an even better place to take the kids. Lots of programs for kids in the Summer and on weekends. It is set in a very pretty park in downtown Wilmington so you can go for a walk along the river before or after visiting.

The Brandywine Zoo is a great place to bring the little kids. It's not too big and overwhelming for them and it doesn't take hours upon hours to go through. The food is what you would expect from this kind of venue.

Smallest zoo i have ever seen. took the kids on a saturday in winter. there was no entrance fee on that day and there were very few exotic animals in the zoo. the healthy tiger was probably the only interesting animal there. even the petting zoo had less than 5 pygmy goats. few llammas and few birds thats about it. So if you are spending your time in the brandywie park you can just peek into this zoo other wise do not plan a sepearate trip to this place. it is really small and can be done in 30 mins to 45 mins.
