I went here on a lazy sunday to enjoy some shrimp i was craving. Upon arrival the place seemed kinda sad as if the world forgot about it. The place was empty which i did not expect. I had the wonderful coconut shrimp which was good but also something i could simply make at home or buy at a store. The service was average and the waitress was nice but once again nothing special. I recommend going with a large group for appetizers and drinks. Go someplace else for dinner.

Thank you for leaving us your comments. We appreciate your feedback. I'm sorry to hear you did not have impeccable service, or that we were not very busy when you arrived. We will work on those things and we always strive to make it feel warm & welcoming even if you may be the only table in the joint. We like to serve high quality fresh ingredients, even if it may not be the most creative we are proud of the food we serve. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your coconut shrimp & did not have to wait for a table due not many customers dining with us at that time. Thanks for giving us a chance & we hope you will give us another so we can show you the service, value and hospitality Big Fish Grill has become known for.

Thanks!

“Nothing to write home about”
Reviewed June 25, 2014

Spent some time in Wilmington working into the evening and felt like some seafood. Looked at my tripadvisor app and chose Big Fish Grill. Located in a nice part of town, on the river and next to the ballpark. It sits in a row along Joe's Crab Shack and Iron Hill Brewpub. That should have been a big hint that the meal to come would be perfectly ok- nothing special.
Arrived around 8:30 and chose to sit outside. Nice server, Alex, brought some tuna fish dip (salty), and she reviewed the menus with us. The paper one is all you need as it has the fresh fish items and draft beers on it.
Ordered a couple beers and some peel and eat shrimp. Beers were on the warm side but drinkable and the shrimp were very good. We tried the Tuesday Crab Cake special and a tuna dish. Alex advised us that "last call" was upon us, at 8:45!, and that since we had just gotten our beers she'd put us in for two more at the last possible moment- we appreciated the idea but warmish beer took the fun out of the idea. Crab cakes were good, though a bit smaller than expected, with pedestrian cole slaw and corn-on-the-cob that came without butter- Alex brought some. The tuna was simply prepared and tasty along with some very good mixed veggies of the day. We didn't have dessert or coffee as it was clear we were holding up their closing of the place. We didn't anticipate a restaurant adjacent to a ballpark to be in shutdown mode at 9pm, no one's fault but don't go later than 7:30ish in my opinion. Not a great meal, not a bad meal, but if I'm out to eat seafood along the waterfront and paying for it I'd like something that makes me write a glowing account and I simply cannot.

“You can't eat there - if they are busy - unless you have a cell phone”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

Technology is now over the top. The Big Fish Grill takes you name and notifies you via a text message to tell you your table is ready. What happens if you don't have a cell or don't use the text capabilities ?

They were busy but not overwhelmed on Sunday Eve, Fathers day. We arrived and were told that we would have a thirty to forty-five minute wait and would be notified via text when our table was ready. We proceeded to the bar - ordered some appetizers and drinks to wait it out. After about 40 minutes we went to the hostess to determine when our table might be available. She advised us that since we didn't respond to the text message our name was dropped from the list. It turns out in checking my phone that they sent a text 4 minutes after we headed to the bar. Followed with another text 2 minutes later. Never expecting a text that soon, and a very noisy bar kept me from getting the information.

I had spent over $ 50.00 at the bar - drinks and two appetizers, Now I had to get spoken to like a 8 year old kid who didn't come to dinner when his mother called him. I should have walked out but proceeded to get seated after another 10 minute wait.

Now we ran into a waiter with the personality of a turtle. Fortunately we were outside with a great river view and terrific weather. Food service was prompt, food was about what you would expect from a restaurant of that ilk. Two things stand out - insensitive hostess and a worn out disinterested waiter. I'm in no hurry to revisit, I dined there before and have had enjoyable experiences.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your most recent experience. We appreciate your feedback and always use these situations to train & coach our staff so we can learn from our mistakes

I would like to apologize for the way you were treated, and how we miss-handled your quoted wait time. We do offer pagers if you do not wish to use your cell phone, I apologize if that was not offered to you.

Our only intention when a guest walks in the door is to give our guests the best possible experience. I apologize that we did not achieve that for you, and we will work on that.

Big Fish Grill values your business, so we would like to invite you back to give us another shot...so that we can show you the service, value and hospitality Big Fish Grill has become known for.

Thanks again!

“CASEY'S ON 3RD”
Reviewed June 12, 2014

Last month was our first visit to Big Fish. Excellent food & appetizers (Suchi), pleasant staff, attentive bartenders - very welcoming!, clean restaurant; a date night ambiance. The GPS took us "one block over", but we found it. We too are restaurant owners & know what customers want, we highly recommend Big Fish-will tell our family & friends. We will be back!

“A Family Favorite”
Reviewed June 8, 2014

We enjoy dining at the Big Fish and we always went to the one in Rehoboth, so we knew it would be good. We all like the complimentary smoked tuna and crackers for starters. Soups are delicious. Surprised how inexpensive the salads are, I was expecting a small one for the price, but it was a meal in itself. I had a goat cheese salad with pecans which was great. Also love the salmon. Would definitely go back and recommend to friends.
