Captain Mac’s Fish House Seafood Market & Dining

Cuisines: Seafood
Description: OUR STORY Bruce McGuigan grew up near the water, spending his time recreational and commercial fishing until his passion led him to open Captain Mac's Bait & Tackle. Opening the doors in 1983, Bruce and his father, Charles "Mac" McGuigan, provided Fenwick Island with professional equipment and expert advice for 32 years. In 2012, Bruce and his family chose to grow their passion for fresh, local seafood and opened Lone Mullet Seafood Market next door. Specializing in freshly caught fish, local stone crab claws, and steamed-to-order Maryland blue crabs, Bruce began the transition from catching to cooking. Having spent much of his life fishing in small towns from the Florida Keys to Baja, Bruce noticed a correlation between fresh fish and good food. With his "simple-is-better" mindset, Bruce began planning his next move. After the 2013 season, with a little push from Hurricane Sandy, the McGuigans tore down the old tackle shop and began a new. After a 20-year dream, the doors opened just in time for Memorial Day weekend of 2014, and Captain Mac's Fish House quickly became a local sensation. We specialize in fresh, local seafood that comes right from the boat to our showcase. Here at Captain Mac's, we believe that fish should never be frozen, farm-raised, or shipped across the country. We strive to carry the freshest possible product, sourced from local fishermen here in the DelMarVa area whenever possible. We have a FRESH SEAFOOD MARKET carrying a variety of fish, shrimp, clams, oysters, stone crab claws, live crabs, and lobster ready for you to take home and cook yourself. We also steam to order crabs, shrimp, lobster, and clams. If you're not in the mood to cook, let us do the work for you! Place your order at the counter, grab a seat at your favorite colored picnic table, and enjoy the beautiful view of the Assawoman bay and Ocean City skyline while you wait. Or, see if you can identify the many shorebirds that frequent the marsh. Our goal is to serve fresh seafood, cooked to order the way you like. We serve a full LUNCH AND DINNER MENU consisting of our fresh catch of the day prepared fried, blackened, or grilled. Try our delicious homemade crabcakes, customer-favored fish tacos, appetizers including shrimp and shellfish, and many more dishes. We also serve wine by the glass or bottle as well as beer, emphasizing our local craft breweries. Please come in and see us and try a taste of the freshest possible local seafood from the man that knows best.

“Clean, Fresh, Good.”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

Casual , very clean seafood market. Adequate picnic tables inside and out, good views from both. Ordered Tuna Steak platter and crab cake sandwich, both were excellent. You can taste the pure freshness. The tuna steak was seasoned perfectly and grilled just right. The tartar sauce was the best I have ever eaten, its homemade. Perfect place for a casual seafood meal on the water. Will definitely be back.

“Awesome, laid back, FRESH seafood restaurant!”
Reviewed July 11, 2014

We had dinner here tonight and the seafood was the freshest we've had anywhere. The set up is very casual, you order your food at the counter then take it to a picnic table inside or out on the deck. Either place you sit has a fantastic view of the Assawoman Bay. The "Banging Shrimp" was, well, banging, the stone crab claws were meaty and juicy, and our entrees of seared scallops, crab cakes, and mahi sandwich were extremely fresh and cooked perfectly. The sides of tomato and cuke salad, and Old Bay chips were fresh and home-made. There's a nice selection of bottled beer, and some house wines. The other restaurants nearby were packed, but at Capt. Mac's we only had to wait in the order line and were able to find a table right away. Owned and staffed by local residents that really care to serve the best, we definitely will be back many times!

“Love the view”
Reviewed July 9, 2014

We have been coming here for years when it was a bait and tackle as well as seafood market. The new restaurant was a surprise this season. The counter ordering was fine with us and you then just pick your seat. We loved the outside deck with the best views. We had the sampler that day with scallops, flounder and shrimp along with ahi tuna and clams casino. Everything but the casino was the freshest and cooked perfect. It was refreshing to have seafood in its natural state without over seasoning. Ok we have had clams casino like this before. It to me is more deviled clams. Very salty and allot of bread. I am used to clams with just cheese and some bacon with a little tomato or red pepper and you drink the juice. Then the alcohol was very pricey. Wish they had a BYOB and we would have eaten a lot more. Just could not spend more to sit there and have cocktails watching that beautiful view on our budget. But we did love the place .

“Perfect jumbo crabs”
Reviewed July 5, 2014 via mobile

There's nothing like meaty steaming hot Old Bay covered Maryland crabs. These jumbos were perfect. Other great fresh fish we've had other times are calamari and shrimp. They also sell spices and baking mixes and have room to eat in as well as on the deck with a lovely view of Keenwick Sound. Such a great fish market.

“Great views and fresh fish sandwich”
Reviewed July 4, 2014 via mobile

I have been here twice - once for dinner and then for lunch. The place is so cute and the views are beautiful. Enjoyed sitting outside on the covered deck. Both times I had a blackened Mahi sandwich and it was delucious. Owner is nice and makes a point of thanking everyone for stopping by. Great little place!
