Holiday Inn Express Seaford-Route 13

I choose this hotel again since I stood there 2 years ago and I liked the place. It's clean, central location, 20 minutes to Rehoboth with an excellent Grotto Pizza restaurant on the same highway 13. My son plays baseball and I like the hotel once before.
The only negative I have is that when you come from a long driving trip and even if you don't, a nice friendly greeting should be offer to welcome you and that is not the case. The night shift dark hair girl at the front desk is horrible, very dry and a "just working here" attitude. There is a lot of people unemployed that can do this job in a rather pleasant way.

Morning folks are great!

Room Tip: The rooms with the pond view are quite and relaxing when u get up in the morning!

As HI Express hotels go, this one is fairly standard. I've stayed here over two dozen times over the past five years, most recently in early March 2012. The staff are very friendly and cooperative, the rooms are clean (although a little dated) and the view out the back over the duck pond is very nice and calming. Breakfast is standard HI Express fare, but hot foods are hot and cold ones are not. Fitness room is a cut above the HI Express norm. The price can't be beat, less than $90/nt on advance purchase.

Room Tip: Stay on the back side away from Rt. 13 and overlooking the duck pond.

The thermostats are not working, you have to adjust the temperature on the air conditioner/heater near the window. The carpets in the halls and in the room were not vacuumed in a couple days.
Flat screen TV was nice, but that was the only modern thing in the room.

...my friend and i arrived here under disturbing circumstances (hitting a deer en route and dealing with car breakdown, insurance, etc.) but things got much better upon checkin...the front desk lady, kim, honored the reservation we had cancelled due to our troubles, and graciously checked us in ,very nice...as usual at holiday inns, the room was good, with a clean bathroom and comfortable beds...november is slow season there, and i didn't hear any noise at all during much needed sleep...the breakfast was above average compared to other HIE hotels, with plenty of choices (too much maybe, on account of few guests!)...an unusual feature of this hotel is the pretty pond behind it, which made an attractive view from the breakfast room(hard to believe a busy US highway was right in front!)...by checkout time, we had become friendly with the front desk staff, who had been helpful throut, and i believed them when they said they would remember us when we return for a second visit, which we probably will!

One of the nicest hotels in Seaford. We had a little problem with the first room they gave us as it hadn’t been cleaned. I told the front desk and they said this happen the night before too. I think they need new housekeeping! They immediately put us in a different room. The second room was clean so all was good. The breakfast in the morning is great with their fabulous cinnamon rolls, assortment of other breakfast foods both hot and cold. There are many restaurants and shopping close by which is an advantage. The location is a bit tricky to get to if you are heading north on Hwy 13 as you have to go past the hotel and turn around. The same is true if you are heading north on Hwy 13 from the hotel. But that is just a minor inconvenience. It is a good place to rest your head.

Friendly and helpful staff at front desk, nice fitness room. Nice amenities in room. Free wifi. Didn't try the breakfast or pool. I like a really clean room, and I was dissapointed. One of the beds had four different kinds of hair in between the sheets. There were a couple of long hairs stuck on the bathroom wall and some kind of make-up/food/something smeared on the light switch in the bathroom. The toilet had feces or something that looked like feces sprayed all around the hinge of the toilet seat (sorry to be so graphic).

Room Tip: room in back won't have noise from highway

The staff was pleasant. When we checked in on a Saturday evening there was a full lobby of a loud kids sports team and parents. The staff said that every weekend they have sports groups (so be aware.) Check in went smoothly. Room was quiet with no noise from the hallway. AC, microwave and refrigerator in room worked. Flat screen TV. Nice new looking carpet. Furniture dated but nice. Everything you would expect from a Holiday Inn Express including a breakfast. One block away from a Friendly's restaurant and a McDonald's. Hotel on main road in Seaford.

Drawbacks: Engineering staff lacking - as shower rod installation was short on finishing details -- wallpaper in bathroom peeling. Housekeeping: Trash bins around hotel slow to be emptied on weekends with sports team. Slight mold in bathroom in corners and on ceiling edges. (Room 126)

Overall: Decent hotel worth staying at!
