We absolutely loved our stay here. Found the B&B on and on a whim decided to stay for the night! Andy (owner) was more than accommodating. Short walk to the beach and boardwalk. Fresh beach towels and beach chairs are provided for guests, too!

I just got back from a 5-day extended weekend to Rehoboth Beach. I've been coming to Rehoboth for the past ten years and always stay at the Royal Rose when I can. The location can't be beat, the rooms are always clean, and there's nothing more relaxing than sitting on the porch with a good book. And Andy, the host, prepares a great continental breakfast every morning.
What I love about the Royal Rose is the homey feel of the place. If you're looking for a place with ocean views and cookie cutter rooms, there are plenty of places like that in Rehoboth. But if you want to stay somewhere that feels like a friend's house at the beach, stay at the Royal Rose. You won't be disappointed.
Anthony H.

PS: Andy- Kevin says thanks for the book. He really enjoyed it.

We spent three nights at the Royal Rose Inn and enjoyed every moment! My favorite feature is the great porch where guests can mingle or choose to read quietly alone. There's a refrigerator for guests' use and it came in handy.
Andy's real magic is with breakfast - oh my. Homemade baked goods, fresh fruit, a selection of cereals, bagels, coffee, teas - and a different hot entree every day round out the great meal. Our room was wonderful and quiet - I slept peacefully all night. The gardens around the house are spectacular - including a Monkey Puzzle tree from South America - definitely the star of the garden. Lovely palms sway against the screened in porch - and the cacti were flowering! These extra touches and Andy's easy-going manner added to our great visit. The location is great - a short walk to the beach or the shops helps us "older" guests enjoy our stay.
The Royal Rose is on my list to visit again and again. Thanks, Andy!!!
Janice

I have been to several B&B's over the years so I have had some experience with this type of accomodation. I will break my review into the different aspects of our stay at the Royal Rose Inn. I stayed with a friend for 3 nights.

Host- Andy was a terrific host/owner/manager of the inn. He was very friendly and helpful to us as this was our first trip to Rehoboth. When we arrived he told us about the inn, when breakfast was, common rooms, etc. and also told us about the beach, restaurants, shopping, etc. He was knowledgeable about the area and it helped make our stay easier.

Breakfast- Andy made the perfect breakfast every morning. A different warm dish was provided each day as well as a homemade coffee cake. There was coffee and juices, bagels to toast yourself, donuts/pastries, fresh fruit, and yogurt. It was really delicious and the perfect way to start your day! Breakfast was served on the front porch. It was nice to be able to sit and enjoy breakfast as you watch people begin their day down Baltimore Ave.

Location- You cannot ask for a better location than the Royal Rose Inn. It was absolutely wonderful; only a block and a half from the beach/boardwalk. But, the part that we loved even more is that it was on a great street (Baltimore) filled with delicious restaurants, quaint shops, and cute houses, yet it was quiet! One street over is Rehoboth Ave which is the touristy street...cheap souvenir stores, greasy food, hotels, etc., busy and very loud. Two streets over was Wilmington Ave, kind of a mix of Baltimore and Rehoboth. Everything is within easy walking distance of the inn.

Accomodations- One parking space is provided to each room. We parked our car the day we arrived and didn't touch it until the day we left! We took advantage of the rooftop hot tub 2 of the nights we were there. We had it all to ourselves which was nice. A great way to relax after a filling dinner! It was a cool thing to do while we were there. My friend used the DVD player in the common living area to do his workout in the early morning before anyone was up.

Room- We stayed in the White Rose Room which is located on the first floor. It was simple and plain, no frills and on the smaller side. It had a small private bathroom and small shower which was fine with us since we didn't spend much time in the room. I am not sure if the other rooms are bigger or not. The room size didn't bother us. If you have been to a NYC hotel, it was about that size. The one complaint we have with our room was the bed. It was not very comfortable and the pillows were flat and hard. I am used to B&B's having plush, comfy, and sometimes feather beds along with lots of big fluffy, squishy pillows. I woke up each morning with back and neck pain from not being used to the bed. Sleeping was tough at times through the night. We would recommend that Andy invest in new mattresses and pillows for his guests.

Price- We paid $180/night. We were there in mid-June, the week before the summer rates started. We think that was a fair price to pay for the room/inn. It was cheaper than several of the other inns we looked at prior to our trip.

Gay owned- Royal Rose Inn is gay owned/operated which is one of the main reasons we chose it. However, it is not a gay-only inn. There was a nice mix of gay, lesbian, and straight couples/people there. As a gay couple, we felt very comfortable there and had nice conversations with all of the guess we ran into throughout our trip.

Recommendation- We definitely recommend the Royal Rose Inn to future Rehoboth Beach travelers and if we do go back to Rehoboth, we will stay here. Even though the bed was extremely uncomfortable, the pros outweigh the cons. Happy travels!!!

Room Tip: You may want to choose a larger room if you are picky about this.

The Royal Rose was a huge highlight of an extremely enjoyable trip to Rehoboth. Andy has thought through so many details which made our stay enjoyable: towels, coolers, beach chairs, drinks all available whenever we needed them. The location is perfect--a couple minutes' walk from the beach--and the property comes with a large porch, a sweet roof deck with hottub, and a comfy family room. Whereas the rooms and especially the bathrooms are small, they are cute and comfortable--and most of our time, of course, was spent outside of them at the beach, the nearby restaurants, or on the roofdeck. Andy was very accommodating and made us feel very welcome. He has maintained the place with a really easy-going atmosphere, which we appreciated a great deal. We had a terrific time.

Stayed for the weekend and had a very nice time. Conveniently located to all the action and a brief walk to the beach and boardwalk. The room was very nice and the breakfast each morning was definitely something to look forward to. We will for sure be staying here the next time we visit.
