After reading some of the negative reviews I was somewhat concerned about the service and food at the Blue Moon. It was our first visit but our friends have been there several times and suggested we go there. Located in a very nice section of Rehobeth Beach, the casual nature of the facility and the quiet seating inside in the front porch helped start the evening right. Our waiter introduced himself and brought our drinks quickly. He then brought a complimentary appetizer, where have you seen that before, and it was great. After taking our order the wait time for the meal was very reasonable. I ordered the shrimp, lobster and sea scallops. Not only was the scallop huge, it was scrumptious the shrimp very good and the lobster pieces, juicey. A bonus was small sqauares of ham? sprinkled around the plate. My wife had the halibut and it was delicious, she hat it all. We then had the moon pie for desert. The four of use shared the amazing moon pie. It was out of this world. A good meal and time was had by all. Yes the bill was a little high, who cared. Art Goldstein.

We had heard mixed reviews before dining at Blue Moon in Rehoboth Beach, DE. Several people had told us that it had slipped under new ownership and had become small portions for a dear price. We found the exact opposite to be true, fortunately!

The cheese plate was a nice start, with fresh grapes, figs, cranberry chutney, to go along with the great cheese and crostini. They brought out something called Amuse Bouche - bacon wrapped stuffed dates - wonderful complex flavors. The main course was nothing short of amazing. My wife had an excellent halibut, and my rockfish with beurre blanc had flavors so wonderful that it ranks as one of the best seafood meals I have ever had. The dessert was the topper - Blue Moon's signature Moon Pie - an ice cream pie with mint, chocolate, and vanilla ice cream on a cookie crumb pie crust - also incredible.

The ambiance of the dining room is very nice... we had shied away before because (not knowing much about the place) it seemed more like a bar from the outside. We're very glad we ventured in. The service was also first rate.

Goes to the top of our nice night out places on the MD/DE Eastern Shore.

My husband and I sat at the bar to have dinner since there was a half hour wait for a table. The atmosphere was lively but relaxing due to the murals on the walls. The bartender, though working alone and busy, was attentive and made recommendations on different alcoholic drinks. The food came out in a timely fashion and was delicious - I had the tamales (which were served open faced which was unexpected), my husband had the chilean sea bass. The food was exquisite!

From the amuse bouche (bacon-wrapped date stuffed with cheese) to the wine recommendation (we were too full to order dessert), the dishes were excellent. Seared foie gras and fried green tomatoes appetizers had many complimentary flavors to deconstruct and savor. For entrees, the seafood over pasta was far from run-of-the-mill. Perfectly grilled squid, shrimp and scallops had a smoky quality and the homemade squid-ink pasta was light and flavorful. Colorado lamb loin seemed like it might be overwhelmed by the unusual combination of faro, pistachios, dates, spiced carrots and tapenade atop a cheese fondue, but the flavors were spectacular together. Helping it all slide down was an Erdenheim rose made from pinot noir grapes. Truly memorable.

While the building is a wonderful historic building in Rehoboth Beach the restaurant is noisy with the adjoining bar and bar scene at the Blue Moon. The food has changed since new ownership and no longer justifies the high price. Service is slow . Better to eat else where and go to Blue moon for the bar and entertainment. Drag shows and Kareoke. Its a gay bar so if you don't want your children exposed to gay shows avoid this restaurant
