Stayed at this hotel on a whim. What a great find! The staff was more than helpful, friendly and kind. The Halloween decor in the lobby was amazing! We actually kept relaxing in the lobby and chatted with the superior staff! Such a great find and will certainly go back soon.

We had a terrific stay at the Avenue Inn. Our room was nicely appointed and VERY quiet. There are lots of nice extras at this hotel and we took advantage of most. In particular, we liked that the hotel provided free beach towels and beach chairs. The staff was friendly and helpful. Avenue Inn is in an excellent location -- just a two-minute walk to the beach and an easy walk to a lot of restaurants and shops. All in all, we had a super early-fall vacation experience there.

We were invited to a wedding in Rehoboth and needed a place to stay. There were a few recomendations made and the Avenue was one of them. We checked them out online and wanted a place that was close to the beach and to the shopping and restaurants. We decided to stay at the Avenue. Rehoboth is a clean, quaint town with many beautiful shops and fine restaurants, We will be visiting again.

Room Tip: Balcony that faces rehoboth blvd...... have a view of the shops, restaurants and beach.

My husband, sixth month old daughter, and I just spent a long weekend at the Avenue Inn in Rehoboth Beach. The hotel was clean and offered some very nice amenities including an indoor pool, jacuzzi, spa, free parking, breakfast, beach chairs, wine & cheese and chocolate chip cookies in the evenings. Overall, it was a great hotel. The best thing was how close it was to the ocean. It was just one block away, so an easy walk. However, since it is a block away, there is no view of the ocean from the hotel. It is conveniently located right along the main street, so no worries about having to find parking. However, that is your view from the balcony, just so you are aware of what you will be looking at.

Room Tip: We were right along the main street and it was very quiet. The hotel is well insulated it seemed and...

For the second consecutive year, my wife and I spent a 4-day weekend at the Avenue on the weekend after Labor Day. Our experience last year was excellent. While it is still a nice place and a good value, our experience this year wasn't nearly as good.

First the positives: nice location close to the beach; balcony overlooking Rehoboth Avenue with a side view of the ocean and awesome rocking chairs; fresh (and delicious) chocolate chip cookies every night; good continental breakfast with wide selection; very good coffee - an important differentiator in my book; good value compared to other hotels in Rehoboth.

Now the problems:
We arrived at 12 for a 3:00 check-in. The person at the front desk said the room was still dirty, but asked for our cell phone number and said he would call us as soon as it was clean. No call ever came. When we checked back after 2 PM, we discovered that the person who was assigned to clean our room had cleaned every room EXCEPT ours, and was busy vacuuming the lobby to get ready for the 3:00 guests. Our room was still dirty, and eventually ready at 2:58 PM - technically in time, but hard to understand why they didn't make it a priority since they knew we were waiting.
We had a problem with the AC unit in our room. The guy at the front desk said he would send someone, but no one showed up for over six hours. We made a second request and a very friendly guy showed up, but he didn't fix the problem, which remained unfixed for 4 days.
When we got to the room, there was a dirty crumpled plastic cup on the balcony which was immediately noticeable - but it stayed there for 4 days.
One of our bath towels had a big rip in it.
The room was noisy because of the aging AC unit and noise from the tv next door.
The front desk staff generally seemed mildly indifferent - not bad and not unfriendly, but less than you would hope for in a place that is so well regarded.
None of these issues were a big deal in and of themselves, but taken together they were irritating. Attention to detail is important in a service business. My general impression is that business is so good that management is complacent. We most likely will come here again next year because there is so much to like, but my enthusiasm for the Avenue has dimmed.

My wife and I have been going to the beach pretty much every year for many years. Since I like looking at the ocean, and what's going on on the boardwalk if there is one, we have always paid the extra money for an oceanfront room with a balcony. We hadn't been to Rehobeth beach for at least 10 years so I turned to tripadvisor to find a hotel. After reading many reviews of various hotels the Avenue Inn sounded like it might be worth giving up the oceanfront balcony this time. We didn't regret it! This hotel is right where all the action is, but much quieter than some of the places we've stayed. Our room was comfortable and clean, actually exceptionaly clean. Same for the lobby, pool, etc. We always check out all the ameneties whether we use them or not. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The continental breakfast was excellent. Usually we check out a hotel's continental breakfast, pass on it and go to a restaraunt instead. We ate here both mornings of our stay. The pastries seemed fresh baked, there were four different juices, three different coffees, bagels, cream cheeze, french toast one morning and bread pudding the next, and eggs with sausage and bacon in them. I forget what else, but we passed on the restaraunt this time around, and saved some $$$ to boot. This just occurred to me because we spend freely when we're on vacation: Two breakfasts for two plus tip at the shore, probably at least $40.00! In the lobby there were wine with cheeze and crackers from 5:00 to 7:00 PM (looked like two bottles of white and two of red, we actually didn't take advantage of this one) and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies from 8:00 PM until ? (sorry, don't remember when, but my wife loved this one!!!) OK, I could go on and on, but the simple fact is we've found our Rehobeth Beach hotel (the only one not oceanfront at any beach) and maybe bring us back to Rehobeth more often. Thank you Tripadvisor and the many people who have taken the time to send reviews. Asked my wife to read the review and she said to add that the bathroom products were Bath & Body brand.

Room Tip: Room 205 two queen beds clean and comfortable no complaints.
