Our section of beach had a fairly steep drop off down to the water and no shells to be found. I had promised our daughter I would bring some back and I ended up going to the sea shells shop and buying her a few.

People frequently ask which is better: Rehoboth Beach, Delaware or Ocean City, Maryland, further to the south. Rehoboth is much smaller: think small kids, strolling on the boardwalk, old-fashioned amusement area with children's rides, quieter, etc. Ocean City: think teenagers, partying, drinking, huge crowds, much bigger. It depends whether you like big and loud or smaller and quieter. The beach and boardwalk in Rehoboth can be traversed in a fairly short time. Ocean City is much more of a hike (and easier to lose small children). Also, Delaware, unlike Maryland, has no sales tax. In short, Rehoboth is a great place to take small children or for a romantic getaway. The side streets of Rehoboth have some pretty older cottages and are much quieter than Ocean City at night.(Although less restaurants to choose from than OC since it's much smaller.) Funland in Rehoboth is a wonderful place for small children and other arcades a few yards away have entertainment for older kids such as the motorcycles that tilt with the screen as you race and other items. Note that parking in Rehoboth, because it is smaller, can be a bit of a pain. On the other hand, Rehoboth is small enough that once you've parked, you probably don't need to drive again unless you're going back to the main highway for shopping outlets, water parks, etc.

this is not the best beach I've been to, but it was a nice getaway. Things I disliked...beach was very crowded, not very many sea shells but pleasant beach.....saw a pod of dolphins which was nice, and the waves were decent.

The beach was a bit crowded. No pizzazz to the location.... just an average beach with about 30 feet of sand from the boardwalk to the water. Unknown how far out before you hit deep water.
