“horrible place to camp”
Reviewed August 28, 2010

This campground should not have tent camping. The sites are small and there is no shade. There is construction less than 100 yards from the tent sites on the bridge and it is very loud and an eyesore. The tent sites are so close together, you are sharing with another person even though you pay $30 for an entire site.
Campground is probably best for RV camping, but even then, there are much better places to stay. Beach was OK, although access to it was limited due to the bridge construction.

“Not a nice campground”
Reviewed August 25, 2010

I've stayed at DE Seashore State Park campground twice, for a total of 4 nights, in the tent-only section. It is not a good campground, especially if you are in a tent.

-The tent plots are small, very very small. When I say small, I mean that the average spot is about 15-20' X 20-25' (some spots are even smaller). There is room for: a tent, but not a really big tent, a picnic table, and that is about it because you have to park your car on your plot. Our tent was less than 10' away from the tents of our neighbors. I'm a people person, so this isn't the end of the world, but if you like privacy, you will not be happy.

- There is no shade. None. If you are camping on 90-100 degree days, this could be a real health risk if you don't hydrate properly.

- There is a massive construction project (new bridge) going on literally RIGHT NEXT TO THE CAMPGROUND. The noise is annoying, and it's a real eyesore.

- Others have complained about the bathrooms/showers. I think these complaints are overblown, I didn't mind the bathrooms or showers. Have you ever seen nice campground bathrooms/showers? I haven't (well, I've seen pay bathrooms/showers that were very nice, because they cost money). Given that the bathrooms/showers are free, I think they are plenty clean. They are much cleaner than the campground itself.

- I've read complaints about the cost (about $30/night out of state). Considering that staying 10 minutes up the road (dewey)in a real crappy motel will run you at least $150/night, I find this place to be a bargain, which is why I've returned to this campground.

This isn't a nice campground, it's pretty lousy in fact, but the beach is very nice, and if you're only looking for a place to lay your head and shower after you've spent the day in Dewey or Bethany, it will suffice just fine.

“Avoid; especially if tent camping!!!!”
Reviewed August 23, 2010

We had read reviews and were prepared for lack of shade and traffic noise. However we were not prepared for our campsite to flood with 6-12 inches of water. The staff were unaware of the flooding because no one ever checked the campground, nor did they know how to handle the situation after we informed them of the flooding. To top it off, the park office admitted that they "need to do some work on those sites" because they have flooded before (sites T20 and T21). They even rented out one of the flooded sites to someone the same day...while the site was still flooded.

Avoid the campground completely. The poor design of the campground is compounded by incompetent staff. The bathrooms were unclean. The buzz from the power lines even over-powered insect noise.

Instead, camp at Cape Henlopen or Trap Pond. Trap Pond is about 45-60 mins from the beach but is absolutely beautiful, quiet and has fantastic staff.

“Horrible! Do NOT camp here unless you have an RV...”
Reviewed August 15, 2010

This place is horrible. No shade, cramped sites and CONSTRUCTION less than 100 yards from the tent sites. Oh, and no campfires allowed. This $30 site was basically like trying to camp at a tailgate party in a concert parking lot. DO NOT CAMP HERE, this place is retched.

“Great beach”
Reviewed August 12, 2010

We visited Delaware Seashore in the middle of the week (Wednesday) and the crowd was not too bad. We only went for the day and would definitely return to this beach. The surf was a little rough, but I think Ocean City, MD and Rehoboth are just as rough. This beach is a little off the beaten path but you can get to more popular beaches in short order if that is what you are looking for. The only down part is the bridge construction that is going on right now. No boardwalk or major attractions here - just a great place to sit and relax on the beach. There is a snack shop and showers as well, which is convenient. Overall, it is a nice place to go if you don't want to deal with the normal Rehoboth crowd.
