This was our second visit to Henlopen and it will definitely not be our last! We started with Old Bay Steamed Shrimp, and my fiance had the Boullabaise and I had the crab cakes. We both agreed that this was the best meal we had on our vacation. They also have a great craft beer and wine menu. The only downside was that our server disappeared for quite some time, I am not sure if it was because we weren't ready to order our entree when she took our appetizer order, or what, but we were almost finished with our appetizer when she came to take our dinner order. She also told the tables around us about the menu and welcomed them to the restaurant, which was really awkward to watch because she did not do the same for us. I was confused by this, and she did seem to relax and her service improved as the meal progressed, so maybe she was just really stressed for some reason when we first arrived. I should note that on our first visit, the service was excellent, so I won't let this experience sour me from going again.

Very accommodating! Told them to sauté some shrimp in some butter n garlic, although this wasn't on the menu, it was no problem. The fish dinners were all fantastic along with the soft shell crabs. Everyone's dishes looked like pieces of art and were expertly prepared/seared! This place is packed constantly with no reservations accepted, so plan on getting a pager from the hostess and having a drink or two at one of the many restaurants on the same block! One of my top meal experiences.

The raw oyster selection is very good, and the fried oysters were excellent, among the best I ever have had. Soft shell crab, crab cake and fish entries were very good, but not exceptional. The fried clam strips were insipid; over-battered and overcooked, which was surprising in light of how well prepared the fried oysters were.

Stick to oysters and you will be a very happy camper.

The place is super cute with lots of personality.
The food was absolutely delicious! We had the "potluck" to share between two people. It was so good and enough for two. The brownie was to die for. Coffee was good, too!
Go there!

First of all, there was nothing We disliked about this restaurant. Service was great, friendly atmosphere and relaxed. Had dinner 2 times and went in for cocktails and oysters the second time. Oysters were fresh and exceptional. The chucker had a number of orders piling up and the owner stepped in to help out to keep up with the orders. Had the Hawaiian Au, great fish mild, the Khol Rabi could have been better. It was over cooked, if done right it would have a "sweetness" when cooked.
Great beer selection that you would not see in an upscale rest., like this. Prices are a little high, for the atmosphere, little on the loud side. not a romantic type of atmosphere.
