“Beautiful trail”
Reviewed March 14, 2012

The trail is really beautiful, going through woods, marshes, and open areas. It is extremely well-kept and great for bikers, walkers and joggers. There is plenty of free parking in a number of convenient areas. Lots of wildlife!

“Awesome Running/Biking Trail Connecting Rehoboth to Lewes”
Reviewed January 13, 2012

This trail is directly behind my townhouse. I use it all the time to go running or cycling. It is a great way to bike over to Lewes for lunch or shopping from Rehoboth - or vice versa. And what a nice way to avoid the outlet center traffic on Route 1!

“A Peaceful Place to Walk or Bike”
Reviewed December 31, 2011

This hidden gem is part of the Delaware bike trail system. Whether Summer or Winter it's a wonderful place to ride your bike from Rehoboth Beach to Lewes. Riders are fairly respectful of walkers on the trail, but there are always those bikers that try to mow you down. At the Lewes end of the trail (Hawkseye Subdivision) dumps you onto Gills Neck Road, but hang a right and follow the road to downtown Lewes. This part is not a trail, but rather sharing the lane with cars. If you have little ones riding with you, you might want to not go further.

“Fun cycling and walking trail through forest, wetlands and farms”
Reviewed December 10, 2011

Stretching between historic Lewes and more beach-y Rehoboth, this trail offers cyclists and walkers a great experience. Unfortunately, the ends of the trail can be hard to find. In Rehoboth, you have to navigate through West Rehoboth (a sometimes-worn low income area) to find the southern trailhead. On the Lewes side, you have to ride along a busy two-lane road for almost a mile and cut through a subdivision to get to the northern trailhead. But once you're on the trail, it's excellent. The surface is fine gravel, and wide. The trail passes through thick forest, across wetlands (on boardwalks) and through farm fields. On a hot summer day, be sure to do your cycling early. The grade is essentially flat. Distance from Rehoboth to Lewes is about six miles. During the summer, we hit the trail in Rehoboth by 8, eat breakfast in Lewes, then cycle back before noon (thus beating the heat). Security-wise, there appear to be few risks. Here and there, the trail crosses roads. And at a couple of places you can take a side track to nearby shopping areas. But mostly, the trail is natural and rural. Great for adults, teens and more athletic youngsters. Built largely on an old railroad grade, the trail provides a great outlet for active vacationers.
