“College town bar during school year”
Reviewed June 21, 2010

I have been to Timothy's twice with a coworker who recommended it for its selection of microbrewery beer on tap. First time at the end of the University spring semester, it was busy. It was a Thursday and the kitchen had some nice low price specials going for it.
I wasn't disappointed with the meal. The young waitress definitely showed her inexperience remembering selections or offering suggestions for food or drink. The second visit found us in the quiet bar area, eating 35 cent Buffalo wings and drinking a couple pints of local beer. It was relaxing. I will go back but will time my visits to avoid most of the noise.

“Good casual dining experience with friends and sports”
Reviewed October 18, 2009

Timothy's is a great place to go with a bunch of friends for dinner or a late night out. They can easily accommodate large groups, as I have been with over 20 people before. During the afternoon and evening, seating is available downstairs, upstairs, or outside. Food is good - lots of options, from appetizers to salads to main courses. The amount of food for the cost depends on what you get but it is typically all well made. As for the drinks, they can sometimes be more costly if you are not getting American beer, but they have many unique, tasty items not offered elsewhere.

Personally, I tend to get the chocolate martini to drink (is a favorite for chocoholics out there) and a salad. The salads are very large and easily fill me up.

Each night, the upstairs becomes the bar and dance floor area so you must be 21 to get up there; however, the downstairs is still open to all ages, unlike most food/bars in Newark. Overall, is a lot of fun.

Timothy's also offer many opportunities depending on the day. For instance, on Wednesday nights, they have salsa nights upstairs where the University of Delaware ballroom team teaches salsa lessons and then salsa music is played for the rest of the evening. On Fridays, happy hour upstairs has a free food buffet. Although there are not options in the buffet, it is a good choice if you want something to eat without spending money.

The main problem is come night, parking is very limited so you have to get there early or wait for a spot at times. Most weekday nights it is not a problem, but weekends can be difficult.
