“A New Adventure in Dining...Do it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

First time to this establishment. Upon walking in for breakfast on a Sunday morning, it looked like you were walking into someone's living room. We fully expected to be led to the rear of the restaurant behind a wall and see a room of dining booths or tables. Wrong! You eat out front using sofa and tray tables or hanging swinging wicker swings! Place your order cafeteria style at the kitchen, sit down in the easy chairs, and await your meal. Fresh brewed coffee or tea of your choice thanks to Kerig. (Nice..except no refills!).
We had Jay's Fried Eggs (but scrambled!). Warned by the owner they were a little spicy...we agreed that was OK. Trust me...she speaks the truth! Laced with fresh shredded jalepeno pepper, along with a nice selection of sauce...they packed a kick. Definitely a "get again" although with a little less jalepenos. (Just pick out what you can't take!) Accompanied by 2 tasty "don't miss" potato croquettes, it was great. Typical scrambled egg with turkey sausage and the "obligatory croquettes was tasty, Fresh cooked before your eyes in the nearby kitchen. Although good, I would be more adventuresome with the menu next time. Everything is fresh made with great ingredients with an ever-present owner who obviously enjoys what she does and wants to succeed. With such a dining vision...she should. (Also open for lunch and dinner, but we only got a chance to sample breakfast.) We'll definitely return next time we come to Newark. Advice...skip iHop and Cracker Barrel....have an adventure for breakfast! Eat here and really ENJOY your first meal of the day.
