“Upscale atmosphere, super friendly staff”
Reviewed April 2, 2014

Not your typical college-town restaurant even though it's smack dab in the middle of Main Street, Newark. The interior is cozy, but with a very upscale feeling. Our server was super friendly and very informative about the menu items. And the food, well, it was worth writing about. Can't wait to go back! The Chicken Taverna is yummy!!!

“Overpriced, but tasty”
Reviewed February 12, 2014

The food had great mediterranean tastes. It was just way overpriced for the small portion sizes. The prices need to be lowered. It is a fun place to go with friends and share different appetizers etc. It also has a natural atmosphere with reclaimed barn wood on the tables and walls.

“Low Food-Value Ratio”
Reviewed February 2, 2014

Nice setting. Lousy food for the money. Why bore you with a bunch of details. These two data points best illustrate a multitude of examples in our large party.
-$9 for 3 little meatballs?!
-a burnt pizza (sure, we get it, you have a really hot oven. but if you have to make excuses for the blackening phenomenon on your menu then maybe you should consider turning down the temp)

“Nice addition to Main Street dining choices”
Reviewed January 19, 2014 via mobile

I've been here several times since opening. Consistently good food . . . Try the pizza for an appetizer. Service is always good. The only drawback (hence 4 stars). . . Parking.

“Pretty darn good!”
Reviewed January 12, 2014

This is becoming one of my favorite places on Main Street. Joined "out of town" friends Saturday night for dinner. We got there at 7pm and had an hour wait. However, I remembered the open area with the candles that's just past the bar so we ended up waiting there by ordering a bottle of wine and the "delicious" calamari. We got seated and were served some delicious bread with a wonderful tomato infused dipping oil. Dinner was a little slow coming (it was crowded) but worth the wait. We all enjoyed our entrees from veal, pasta, salmon and tuna.. NOTE: If you don't want to wait the manager said to come before 6pm. Reservations are only taken for groups of 5 or more. Nice place if you are visiting Newark and want a tried and true place to eat!
