“A Nice Park”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

The White Clay Creek State Park connects with the White Clay park system that crossed the Penn line along the White Clay Creek. The whole park system is a wonderful resource. It is a miracle that is was not devoured by builders when the area became (over) developed. This is by far the nicest place to go to walk in the Newark area. It is really lovely throughout the year.

“Beautiful Park”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

This is a wonderful park for hiking, running, and biking. We have done all of the above, to include picnics. We have also enjoyed their wildlife education experiences, bat hikes etc. Good for all ages, with different trails for various skill levels and good maps.

This is a great venue for photos! :) We had family pictures done here and the weather was pleasant as well as the scenery! I know that we would definitely go back here to do the pictures again and recommend this venue to family and friends as well!

“Great for Bikers and Hikers Alike”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

Even in the gloom of winter, this park shines. The paths have just enough elevation change (for Delaware!) to add adventure for the hiker, runner and biker. It offers several paths, beautiful trees and plants, a couple wooden bridges crossing small streams, and a lot of birds. Things to keep in mind:

1. Consider printing out a map before arriving or get one at a park office. The trail markers can be confusing. At one point, three different directions were marked with the same trail name.
2. Take water since drinking water is unavailable.
3. Dress appropriately to protect against ticks or check diligently after hiking for the little buggers. We found one pesky tick after getting in our car. Nothing to worry about because you can find these anywhere, even in your own yard!
4. Remember the trail is shared by those on bike and on foot. If hiking, it might be a good idea to keep earbuds/music at home so that you can listen for bikers coming up behind you.
5. Find out at the trailhead or online to see if hunters might be allowed in the area. This is important no matter where you bike/hike. Hunting dates and hours were posted at the trailhead.
5. Parking is free during winter months, but a one-day or seasonal pass is required March - November. It's a good investment!

It's a great park - clean, well-maintained paths, friendly people. We'll be back!

Beautiful wooded hills and valleys with creeks and abundant wildlife. Miles of trials for hiking, biding and biking. A great place for peace and recreation.
