“Going back for sure....”
Reviewed March 21, 2011

Very nice Sunday brunch menu. Food was excellent.....Service was smart and attentive....atmosphere was interesting.

All in all, we thought it was an excellent choice for brunch. Great food at more than reasonable prices were united for a worthwhile dining experience. Stands out in today's selection of low-value and mediocre restaurants.

See you there next time...

“Too Complicated”
Reviewed February 23, 2011

Very interesting decor for the restaurant with the cat theme. Was not over the top, however, and had a very unique feel to it. Tables are spaced well and comfortable.

My wife and I felt that the food was very good, but was not quite there. It almost seemed like there was an emphasis on an overly elaborate menu, but somehow it didn't quite come together.

The crab soup was good, but had a fair amount of shell fragments in it. The crabcakes had a lot of stuffing and were overly heavy. The wine was not chilled; had to wait a bit for it to be put on ice and then still not optimal temperature.

It wasn't that they weren't good, and we were not disappointed, but for a restaurant in that price range, you would expect for example that they would have a cellar or a quick wine chiller, or that the shells would not be included in the soup.

It seemed to us that if they spent a little more time on the basics and less time on the "complexity" of the menu, that they probably could make this into a 5 star venue, as the dining room was comfortable and the staff was attentive and did an excellent job.

“Crazy is right!”
Reviewed December 29, 2010

Summary: Hit-and-miss Heston Blumenthal style cuisine (yes, bacon ice cream was on the menu) served in a small, insanely decorated, dining room. It aims high, but falls a little short of its ambitions. Fairly priced for what it promises, overpriced for what it delivers.
We had dinner in the restaurant while staying at the truly excellent Montchanin Inn (five stars).
Food: All of the dishes on offer involved experimental, complex mixed flavors. As a direct result some were tremendous and others were dismal, the latter being either tasteless of overpoweringly strong. The quality of the ingredients was high, but once again I left wishing that more high-end restaurants in the USA focused harder on being good than being different.
Venue: A Frenchman would describe the decor of Krazy Kat's as "impossible". The comfortable chairs of the small dining room are upholstered with leopard and tiger skin prints. The walls are hung with oil portraits of cats, and the occasional dog, wearing military regalia. So far as I could determine, none of them are playing at cards. This lunacy is offset by a ceiling of prefabricated foam tiles that belong in a cheap office. I think the decorators were trying to create a Lewis Carroll fantasy world, but ended up with something more redolent of the boudoir of a 60 year old lady who obsessively collects unicorn statuettes.
Service: The place was reasonably crowded while we were there. Service was courteous, with a couple of faux pas’. The waiters were professionals, not kids on vacation, and were taking their jobs seriously. I was slightly surprised to be given a dessert spoon to eat my soup with, the only other slip up was having to wait ten minutes to get my water glass refilled.

“Stay at the Inn, eat at the Inn”
Reviewed July 21, 2010

You can't go wrong if you dine at Krazy Kat's. This casual restaurant at The Inn at Montchanin Village is a hidden gem. The food is fresh and creative. The menu has many items to choose from at all meals, and the service aims to please. It is perfect for a romantic evening, a friendly get-together, or a business meal. It is quiet, with tables that are nicely spaced. This is not fast dining, nor is it suitable for small children.
