“Marvelous place to stay”
Reviewed May 4, 2012

Booked three nights, two in the Superior suite and one in a queen room. We prefer the suite but there was not a third night available so we took the lesser accomadation for the third night. To begin with the staff is truly delightful and will do anything thay can to assure your stay is a successful experience. Their knowledge of the area is superb. The accomadatons, in both cases, are beautifully appointed and super clean. The beds are the most comfortable I have ever had the pleasure of using. All ammineties are supplied including turn down service, a most delightful option. The Krazy Kat's resturant, which is on the property, is also a first class dining experience. Once again the staff is at the top of their game. Barbra, the term sever does not do her justice ,our guide through three lovely dinners was a pure delight and added a great deal to the pleasantness of our stay. I would highly recomend this place and can't wait to return. Many more attractions to see and a wonderful place to use as home away from home.

Room Tip: The Superior Room is worth the extra expense. Our unit was on the main road but there was very litt...

My wife and I have stayed here many times over the past ten years or so and it is always a comfortable upscale place to stay with a great attached restaurant called Krazy Kats that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The lower cost rooms tend to be small, so consider choosing one of the larger rooms. This time we stayed in a larger very comfortable room called Carpenter B in the Privy Lane area. Most rooms in the Privy Lane area require traversing stairs, sometimes both down and up, so you may need to use the bellman's golf art and assistance to handle your bags.

This place is a gem! The entire place is meticulous. We were not disappointed with anything. The room was marvelous with its own little patio with seating for four, which made a larger room unnecessary We could sit and feel we were there by ourselves. Even the drinks in the refrigerator were free. There were a lot of steps but it made it so quaint. The spa was exquisite, I would recommend the healing massage. We stayed three nights which made it possible to see all the Brandywine sites. Also found a place called Cromwells Tavern nearby very reasonable and delicious.

Found the location to be nice and relaxing, i had to keep reminding myself that we were only 15 minutes from home. We had a one bedroom suite/townhouse. The lower level was a small bar area and living room with TV and fireplace. Up the steps was a bedroom and bath. Rooms were "ok." They were clean but felt a bit tired (I know it is a historic venue), the bed was fair, and the bathroom was decent sized. I will say that the water in our bathroom had a definite mold smell. Ask for a room away from the road noise. Also there are A LOT of steps and grade changes on the site. It is definitely not conducive to those who have trouble getting around (elderly or disabled).

The spa was nice, not spacious but relaxing and did the job. It was a nice easy walk from all the rooms.

Dinner at Krazy Kats was very, very good! Large menu with reasonably priced bottles of wine.

All in all a great spot for a nice overnight getaway but definitely not luxurious. But I felt that the rooms were expensive for what you actually got for the price. For $300/night I could have stayed at the Ritz in Philly.

There were seven of us in two two-bedroom suites. We loved it. For the most part everything was very nice except one of the four bathtubs had darkened use stains that did not bother the occupants but would have bothered me. Otherwise the bathrooms, all four of them, were the best feature-each was very spacious with a large soaking tub and separate shower. The heated towels were a nice addition. The toiletries were nice.

The bedrooms were a nice size, very clean, nicely appointed and the beds comfortable.
The campus is nice with a central cobblestone walk way through a lantern lighted path.

There are a lot of steps, including a steep stair climb to the bedrooms in our suites-not a problem for us but could be for those with physical limitations.

We had confusion in our party, and the designated person did not make the dinner reservation for dinner at Krazy Kats. We did have breakfast there. The ambiance was great, as was the food and the servings were more than enough.
The Inn isn't a "true" B & B because there is an additional charge for breakfast-however, it was very reasonable.

The turn down service was nice and the toffee left was better than the usual chocolates.

The Brandywine area is just beautiful and there were many things to see and do.

All in all, we were all very pleased.

Room Tip: The morgon is a great room -very clean

We had the most wonderful stay at the Inn at Montchanin Village. It was like going back to a quaint village in France. The little cobblestone street and cute cottages were so awesome and the food at the Krazy Kats Restaurant was delicious. It made for an unforgettable visit and we plan to go back soon. The staff were wonderful and very helpful.
What a pleasant time.
