Visited the park yesterday as a day only visitor to enjoy the beach and check out the park. It was busy and very hot! The changing/restrooms at the beach were like sauna, you were dripping sweat when you walked out. The beach was rocky-pebbly and very crowded. The heat that day did not help – felt like temperature per Weather.com was 102 degrees. We may go back, but not during June, July or August.
The initial Park Ranger when you check in was out right rude and nasty to car in front of us! She pulled over to the side to get cash from the car behind her to pay the fee to enter the park and he yelled at her and continued to grumble about her as he took our money. The Ranger in the camping area was very nice.

We've camped at CH twice -- the first time in a tent with a 5yo and an infant -- and we've had great experiences. It's definitely a family-friendly campground, quiet in the evenings, plenty of kids around during the day for playtime. I recommend reserving a site on the perimeter for the most space and shade; the center sites are wide open and pretty close together. The bath houses are clean, but there are only two in the whole park, so at peak times you will wait for a shower. The beach is a bit of a walk away, but definitely worth the hike: It's wide open, like your own personal beach. Keep in mind, there are no lifeguards on this section nearest the campground; for lifeguards you have to go way down to the main part of the beach (where the changing area and concession stand is), where you will have a postage-stamp-sized piece of sand to rest on. The Rehoboth boardwalk is a 10-minute drive away, and the Cape May-Lewes ferry is right down the road. (Another lovely beach spot worth a drive is the Delaware Seashore State Park, but I do NOT recommend the campground there.) My favorite thing about camping at Henlopen is that when you lay your head down at night, you can hear the surf in the distance, with the peepers chirping in the trees. So lovely.

Great family camping! Get a campsite on one of the outer edges and you will be thrilled with the shade and privacy. Other complaints about bathrooms must not be from true campers. I found them to be just like I would expect a bathroom in any campground to be. Besides you are there for the surroundings, not for primping. I showered with two of my children at the same time and we managed just fine. The nature center is sweet, free bike rentals are amazing, fishing pier is entertaining and watching horseshoe crabs on the beach is fun for the kids! There are a few different beach sections, secluded campground section, drive on section, daily beach goer section and even a section where dogs are allowed. Have never experienced the campground section as busy at all even on holiday weekends! We return every year we love it so much!

The location is good, easy acceses to the beaches, nice landscapes.
The beaches are awsome, like a big pool.
The generators are not allowed wich is very inconvenient specially these summer days..... There is no wind at all :(
So nigths gets so hot being unbearable to sleep through the nite specially if you are traveling with infants.
Bathrooms are just ok they could be better...... There is always a line if you want to use it

We've been to C.H. a number of times both camping and just for a day trip. If I were to rate the scenery it would be a 5, the 2 represents the "property". They have now added some beautiful cabins to the campground which I am sure will prove profitable. They lack in adequate facilities for women, you are constantly waiting in line for one or the other and though it would be nice to have updated facilities, clean facilities would be appreciated as much. They have 3 showers in one bath house and one of them was not working properly so it was actually 2. Though it seems they have the money to address this they will not do so. You can't help but feel that the customers needs really mean little to Delaware State Parks. You will find some very cranky people in position of direct contact with the customer as well, again leaving you to wonder if you've wandered onto their personal property. These are the things holding back Cape Henlopen State Park from being an absolutely exceptional experience. In the end you close your eyes and take a deep breath, hearing and breathing the ocean and this is why they know you will accept less from them.
