Five of us took the cruise from Lewes to Dewey and back. Weather was perfect and it was so relaxing and fun. Crew was friendly and informative. We did not know that there was no food or drink to buy or that we could bring our own, We plan to take the new Indian River Bay cruise from Long Neck next week. Give the water taxi a try - you'll really enjoy it!

Capt. Steve took our party of 9 and several others one of their morning eco tours. I was pleased to find out he was an alum from my college. We bird watched, saw 25 different species, a record for one trip, learned about the bay and marsh and its inhabitants both land and water. Its a great event to include on your vacation to this area or if you have company and live here, take them on a ride to show them another reason we love living in Lower slower Delaware. I recommend you make reservations as it fills up fast. They also serve as a water taxi from Lewes to Dewey beach.

My family and I were very excited about taking a special cruise on July 4th with the Cape Water Taxi to see the fireworks in Dewey Beach. The ride through the canal was great, with beautiful views of nature and wildlife, as well as gorgeous multi-million dollar homes. Once we got out to the bay to watch the fireworks we became concerned, as the crew had dropped anchor so that only the very small back portion of the boat had a proper view of the fireworks area. We asked several times if they were going to turn the boat a bit more so that all the folks on the boat would be able to see and they told us they would "do what they could". Well, when the fireworks started the boat had still not been turned and then to add further insult, a number of folks went and stood in the back of the boat and pretty much completely blocked any view my family and I had of the event. A number of family members are boaters and they felt that the crew should have been able to turn the boat so that the majority of people aboard would have had good views of the fireworks.
On the positive side, we were able to bring our own beverages (alcoholic and non) and food aboard and the price for a 3+ hour trip was reasonable at $20/person. There are also two clean, but very rudimentary bathrooms on board the boat.
I would definitely give the taxi another try as a method from getting to Lewes to Dewey for dinner or drinks, but would be hesitant to recommend any "special" events like the fireworks cruise.

SSW winds blowing at 16 mph sustained & gusts over 22mph caused a 2-3' swell that prevented the crew from anchoring from the stern of the vessel. The Captain was concerned that the waves would swamp the outboard engines and therefore, hand to anchor the vessel from the bow. We truly try to go the "extra mile" when it comes to our guests comfort & enjoyment, but safety always comes first. Please contact me directly to discuss further. Captain Dave

Took the the family on the relaxing Sunset Cruise. Only negative would be the cost. Everything else was perfect. Very relaxing and you get to see a piece of Delaware many do not see. Was also a great way to chill out after a busy day at the ocean and the Rehoboth boardwalk. Feel free to bring your own wine, beer and cooler with food. During the excursion you can walk about. Crew was friendly and pointed out the birds, landforms etc. Enjoy the sunset. It was amazing as it neared the horizon. Take your camera !! Look forward to the other trips offered on the next trip to the beach.

This a a fairly new addition to the area, offering water taxi service, charters, private parties, eco tours, sunset cruises, you name it. You can customize what you want, or take a regularly scheduled sightseeing cruise (my wife and I along with my brother and his wife, who live in the area, took a sunset cruise). Captain Dave Green, seasoned sailor and all around cordial guy, is fun and easy to work with. He has a number of pontoon type boats, from comfortably seating 26 to a 50+ footer for larger groups. Highly recommend.
