The story of how this restaurant came about is almost as delicious as the food itself. According to the owner, his mother used to make this rotisserie chicken on special occasions in their hometown of Lima, Peru, and the aroma of the chicken was so tempting that everyone in the neighborhood would stop by to see if there was an extra plate of food available. It was explained that this chicken recipe was based on a secret recipe that had been passed down by two generations in the mother's family, in which the chicken is perfectly seasoned and marinated overnight to acquire its' flavor.
We are lucky that we live in the same town as Delicioso's, and have enjoyed this chicken several times. You get a very good meal. 1/2 a rotisserie chicken is $7.95, and with that comes a very good house salad or cole slaw and yellow rice or fries. Get the yellow rice. It is homemade and delicious. Additionally, You will get these little containers of the most delicious homemade mixture of spicy sauces to dip into the chicken, as if the chicken was not flavorful enough. Really, this chicken, whatever the secret recipe is, is so good that we end up eating it with our fingers so as not to miss one single morsel.
You can also get a dark or white meat rotisserie chicken sandwich, which includes chopped rotisserie chicken pieces served on an italian roll for $5.95, or a salchipapas, sliced hot dog pieces served over fries with dipping sauce on the side. There is a rotisserie salad, macaroni and tuna salads, some nice sides like fried yucca, corn tortillas, empanadas, red pinto beans, and desserts such as corn bread, homemade pineapple cake and tiramisu. There are home made soups daily. Monday and Tuesday is chicken soup, Wednesday and Thursday is clam chowder and Friday, Saturday and Sunday is Chicken Cilantro.
The owner is very friendly and makes you feel very welcome in his restaurant. You can have your food prepared to go or eat in the immaculate restaurant. A nice addition to the Dover dining scene.
