My husband and I spent one night at the Surf Club Hotel. The staff called us to say that the desk closes at 5pm but we could pick up our key in the box outside. We arrived just at 5 and the employee was outside and helped us get the key, yes, an old fashioned key! Attached was a plastic tag with the room number and another smaller plastic tag. I had no idea what it was. Some of the doors had key holes and some didn't, ours did not so I couldn't figure out how to open the door. I called the hotel (since no one was in the lobby and the door was locked) but fortunately a maintenance person was there and instructed us to swipe the smaller plastic tag. The door handle was loose and difficult to open. I must say now that the outside of the hotel was a bit dingy and dated and I was concerned about what I would find inside. Then the door finally opened and I could barely breathe. I thought I died and went to heaven.
The room was beautiful and very clean, spotless in fact. No carpet on the floor which in my opinion is a plus. Full size fridge, two burner induction stove top, sink, microwave, fully stocked with kitchen supplies. King size, very comfortable bed, couch/sofa bed and coffee table facing the stove. Beyond the bed a table and four chairs and a built in bench that could easily sleep a child (or short adult like me).
Now for the best part. The view!! Amazing! Floor to ceiling windows almost right on the beach. Look below the window and there is only sand and beach grass. Opposite the window on the other side of the bed was a huge mirror so you had a view of the beach wherever you looked. Entrance to the beach is right next to the hotel.
The only thing that would have made it better is a balcony but it didn't really matter too much. I would have preferred some one in the lobby all night but it didn't matter too much to us, not sure if there is some one there in-season. I would most definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again. A little piece of heaven.
