Went on a business trip to Dewey with my dog and was pleased to find out that I could take her to the beach as long as it was after 530pm. She is very shy and the only negative for her were the many dogs off leash running up to say hi when she would rather be alone. The owners were very nice and would control their dogs once they saw that mine would rather not play. Amazaing how clean it all was, easy to get to and free.

We were staying at Rehoboth Beach and brought our dogs along on vacation. We found out that Dewey was the only beach that allowed dogs on the beach. Dogs are not allowed on the Dewey beach between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. during the Summer Season (May 15-September 15). Also, you need to obtain a license to allow them on the beach. An 8-day license is $10 and a weekend license (Friday 5:30 pm thru Sunday midnight) is $5. You will need to have the date of the last rabies inoculation. They do stop and ask if you have a license. We were able to allow our dogs off leash. When we were there, there were about 20 dogs there enjoying the beach. It was a fun beach. I would highly recommend it. My husband felt it was a nice enough beach that maybe the next time, we will stay at Dewey.

Dewey Beach is more than just party town, but comes by that label honestly. It also has some excellent restaurants and shops that make it a viable option to staying in Rehoboth or Lewes Beach areas.Lots within easy walking distance and its laid back appeal makes it friendly to all. As their motto says, " Its a Way of Life".

For the last couple years we've visited this beach at least once a year. The beach is clean, the lifeguards are professional and, for the most part, the people are pleasant & polite. The surf is fun!
